Observation. Licensing Officer found the facility has not been documenting minor accidents and unexpected events occurring since Oct 2023. The Child Care Licensing Regulation requires that all minor accidents, illnesses, and unexpected events be documented. Submit by June 12, 2025, how you have addressed the requirement for a current log of minor accidents, illnesses, and unexpected events.

Observation. Licensing Officer found the facility's care and supervision policy did not provide staff with written direction on what is expected of them while supervising children, such as counting children and other active supervision strategies. Identifying risks and active supervision minimize the risk of injury and allow staff to instantly intervene to protect children's health and safety. Submit by June 19, 2025, how you have addressed the requirement for a detailed care and supervision policy.

Observation. A review of employee records revealed that one employee's Criminal Record Check clearance letter is expired. A Licensee must not employ a person without the required Criminal Record Check. Provide information to Licensing by May 20, 2025, that the employee will not be present at the facility until valid Criminal Record Check results are received. Notify Licensing when the new Criminal Record Check clearance letter has been added to the employee file.

Observation. A gap where one slat is missing on the storage room door measures 4 inches, which presents a risk of entrapment. Openings must not be between 3.5 and 9 inches. Provide evidence to Licensing by May 22, 2025 that the gap has been reduced to less than 3.5 inches.

Observation. A review of attendance records found some times of arrival and departure missing from 4 and 5 months prior to the inspection. This item has been corrected and a system appears to now be in place for ensuring the attendance records are complete.

Observation. A record of monthly fire drills exists, however not all staff were present for all of the practices. A system for ensuring that each employee practices implementing the fire drill procedure, and recording of those practices, is required each month.

Observation. Observations: Licence, ECE and Assistant Certificates posted. Appropriate notification with written approval received for structural change to the facility. Contravention: Manager name needs to be posted in prominent location.

Observations: Log of minor injuries/incidents unexpected events updated regularly, play space inspections recorded appropriately, children's arrival and departure times consistently recorded. Contravention: One child's record stated "partially Immunized" without an indication of what the child was not immunized against. One child's record was missing information in the Dr's name and Telephone number field.

Observation. Observations: In general, facility appears to be safe and free from hazards - hot water measured below 49°C and fridge temperature below 4° C. Appropriate fencing in place to ensure children do not have access to renovation site. Contravention: The raised playhouse windows have openings that are greater than 3.5" and less than 9 inches.

Observation. The stairs that access the covered deck are starting to deteriorate.

Observation. Staffing files were reviewed. Some files are missing a resume and immunization status.

Observation. Observations: Written policies and procedures in place and available for staff to review. Fire Drills and Emergency response plan practiced and recorded appropriately. Contravention: A discussion occurred regarding the access to emergency supplies. The manager indicated that supplies were located at their alternate location. The emergency response plan within the ECE policies and procedures was reviewed, the alternate location was missing from the plan. The plan needs to be updated to include the location of the alternate relocation site where the supplies are stored. The plan also needs to have a recovery phase.
