Observation. Several children's records are missing medical insurance plan numbers and the name and telephone number of a medical practitioner. Current information is required to ensure children's safety in the event of an emergency. This is a reoccurring contravention originally found out of compliance on January 22, 2024, and February 7, 2025. Submit by February 16, 2025, a written plan detailing how you will ensure compliance with this requirement. Children records are missing a photo or digital image which can be used to readily identify a child in an emergency. Submit by February 16, 2025, a written plan detailing how you will ensure compliance with this requirement.

Observation. The employees did not practice the January fire drill system. Implementing the fire drill system as least once each month ensures employees know what is expected of them in the event of a fire. Submit by February 16, 2025, a written plan detailing how you will ensure compliance with this requirement. There is no evidence indicating the employees have practiced implementing the emergency plan in the last year. Observation. The Licensee’s system for ensuring that children's records contain all of the legislated requirements was noted to be ineffective. A review of children's records found several to be incomplete missing medical insurance plan numbers and the name and telephone number of a medical practitioner. A system to ensure children's records contain all of the legislated requirements needs to be created. Submit to Licensing the system created to come into and maintain compliance by the follow up date requested. This is a reoccurring contravention originally found out of compliance on January 22, 2024. A review of the daily attendance records found the records do not accurately reflect which children are in attendance or which children have left the care program to attend ski lessons. This information is required in order to reflect the numbers of children present at any given time in case of emergency, or parent inquiry. Submit by the follow up date noted the system developed to ensure the daily attendance will accurately reflect children's arrival and departure times. The facility does not have a system in place to ensure that outdoor play space inspections are occurring. Daily inspections of the outdoor play space have not been recorded. Outdoor play spaces must be inspected for potentially dangerous items, each day. Submit by the follow up date noted the log created for play space inspections as well as the system developed for ensuring that play space inspections are completed daily, monthly and yearly as required. This is a reoccurring contravention originally found out of compliance on January 22, 2024.
- C7.1 - Is the facility safe, sanitary, free from hazards, in good repair, and appropriate for the age and development of children?Non-critical
Observation. At the time of the inspection the Licensing Officer observed a sleep mat in poor repair. The inner foam was exposed which does not allow for adequate cleaning and sanitizing. A Licensee must ensure that mats used for sleeping are in good repair and the inner foam of the mats is not exposed. This was corrected during the inspection with the mat in question being removed from the nap room.

Observation. A review of staffing files indicated an employee of the facility is working without a responsible adult course. Evidence of a completed course, or a combination of courses, of at least 20 hours duration in child development, guidance, health and safety, or nutrition, is required. Submit to Licensing a plan to come into compliance by the follow up date requested.

Observation. A review of staffing files indicated all employees at the facility do not have the required criminal record review clearance letters from the Criminal Record Review Program. Persons without the required criminal record check may pose a health and safety risk to children in care. Submit to Licensing a plan to come into compliance by 3pm January 24, 2024. An employee working alone at the time of the inspection did not hold a valid first aid and CPR certificate creating a possible safety risk for children in care.

A random sampling of children's records indicated several were missing the following information: - medical insurance plan number - name and telephone number medical practitioner A system to ensure children's records contain all of the legislated requirements needs to be created. Submit to Licensing the system created to come into and maintain compliance by the follow up date requested. Checkmarks were being used rather than signatures as consent from a parent to call a medical practitioner or ambulance. Written consent from a parent is required. Submit to Licensing a plan to come into compliance by the follow up date requested. The facility does not have a system in place to log outdoor play space inspections.
