    Observation. During the inspection Licensing observed situations where children were not being supervised at all times.

    Observation. One staff certificate had not been verified by the licensee using a system established and maintained by the director of the early childhood educator registry.

  • C2.1 - Are written policies and procedures in place to guide employees in all matters regarding the care and supervision of children?Non-critical

    Observation. A compliance plan was submitted to licensing on November 9, 2022 to ensure the health and safety of children in care. At the time of this inspection the plan was not being followed.

    Observation. A child sustained an injury requiring medical attention due to inadequate supervision while the child repeatedly opened and closed a door. Through the investigation process it was confirmed by an employee and another staff member that the employee turned their back to the child allowing the child to continue playing with the door and sustain an injury.

    Observation. The Licensee has not ensured that policies and procedures to guide employees in all matters regarding the care and supervision of children have been implemented by a staff member. Through the investigation process, and a review of the behavioural guidance policy, it was determined that the following parts of the policy were not being followed: - redirection - employees will be alert and actively observing children at all times

  • C4.1 - Are facility records current and complete?Non-critical

    Observation. A child sustained an injury that fits the definition of a reportable incident as described in schedule H, which was not reported to Licensing within 24 hours.

  • C7.1 - Is the facility safe, sanitary, free from hazards, in good repair, and appropriate for the age and development of children?Non-critical

    Observation. Information received by Licensing was that a bookshelf had been pushed onto a child. Through the investigation process it was confirmed that a child was able to climb on and get behind an unstable bookshelf and then pushed the shelf onto a child.

It was confirmed through the investigation process that unqualified staff were operating the Group Child Care (Under 36 months) program on the noted days.
