    Observation. Fire drills were not conducted in June, October, and November 2025, and February 2026. This is a recurring contravention, originally identified as out of compliance on April 24, 2025. Monthly fire drill practices are required to ensure staff are adequately prepared to respond in the event of a fire. Submit by April 6, 2026, how you have addressed the requirement of all employees practicing the fire drill system monthly. There is no evidence that employees conducted the emergency plan in the last year. Yearly emergency plan practices are required to ensure all employees are adequately prepared to respond in an emergency situation. Submit by April 6, 2026, how you have addressed the requirement of all employees practicing the emergency plan.

  • C7.1 - Is the facility safe, sanitary, free from hazards, in good repair, and appropriate for the age and development of children?Non-critical

    Observation. A mat used as a change pad is in poor repair, with worn vinyl and exposed foam. Damaged equipment cannot be properly cleaned and sanitized, posing a potential health risk to children. Submit by April 6, 2026, evidence that the damaged mat has been repaired or replaced.

  • C9.1 - Are there plans and actions in place to ensure medications are stored and administered properly?Non-critical

    Observation. Two children who may require medication (inhaler and EpiPen) do not have documentation on file authorizing administration. All medications that may be administered at the facility must have documented authorization from a parent, along with confirmation that the facility manager has approved administration. Submit by April 6, 2026, evidence the medication documentation has been completed and is on file as required.

    Observation. The Licensing Officer reviewed staff files and one file was missing work history. The Child Care Licensing Regulation requires the Licensee to have complete staff records prior to working in the facility. Confirm with evidence by May 2, 2025, that the missing record has been added to the file. In reviewing the fire drill log it was noted that fire drills were not conducted for January, February, and March 2025. Practicing fire drills ensure staff are prepared during an emergency. Submit by May 2, 2025, how you have addressed the requirement for practicing and recording fire drills.

  • C4.1 - Are facility records current and complete?Non-critical

    Observation. The Licensing Officer observed one child's record was missing written consent to call a medical practitioner or ambulance. In the event of an emergency regarding a child in care, the Licensee is required to have written permission to call a medical practitioner or ambulance from the parent. This was corrected during the inspection. The Licensing Officer observed a child's care plan has not been reviewed at least once each year as required by the Child Care Licensing Regulation. Reviewing care plans yearly ensures the information contained in the plan is current to ensure that children requiring extra support receive safe and supportive care, and to support employees to know how to respond to any symptoms of identified conditions. Confirm by May 2, 2025, with evidence that the care plan has been reviewed.

  • C7.1 - Is the facility safe, sanitary, free from hazards, in good repair, and appropriate for the age and development of children?Non-critical

    Observation. The Licensing Officer observed rubber matting, used as resilient surfacing in the play yard, which is heaving and uneven in areas from tree roots and age. The current matting may pose a tripping hazard to children in care. Confirm by May 2, 2025, how you will ensure the play space is safe for children.

    Observation. Care plans for children with medical conditions and allergies are in place however do not contain sufficient information. The course of action that is required to support a child with medical conditions or allergies must be clearly outlined in order to address the needs of the child. Care plans need to be developed in consultation with the facility, parents and any other third party professional. Care plans need to provide evidence that the plan has been reviewed at least once each year by all parties involved.

  • C7.1 - Is the facility safe, sanitary, free from hazards, in good repair, and appropriate for the age and development of children?Non-critical

    Observation. Two climbing structures in the outdoor play spaces do not have six foot clearance around the equipment. Ensuring appropriate clearance around all climbing structures is necessary to avoid the potential for injury or entrapment. Confirm that all climbing structures have been positioned with the appropriate clearance and outline how clearance will be maintained. A system to conduct outdoor play space inspections has been developed, however is not being completed daily. This is a re-occurring contravention originally found out of compliance on July 6, 2022. All play spaces must be inspected daily prior to children use to ensure the space is safe and any hazards are identified and/or removed. Outline the system developed to ensure play space inspections are being conducted on a daily, monthly and annual basis.

  • C9.1 - Are there plans and actions in place to ensure medications are stored and administered properly?Non-critical

    Observation. It was disclosed by the manager that two children's epi-pens and two children's inhalers are kept in each child's backpacks in the cubby area within reach of the other children. All medications need to be stored in a manner that is inaccessible to the children. Outline the system developed to ensure all medication is stored appropriately and is accessible to staff if administration is required.
