May 11, 2026Routine Inspection1 non-critical
- C7.1 - Is the facility safe, sanitary, free from hazards, in good repair, and appropriate for the age and development of children?Non-critical
Observation. Electrical outlets in two power bars are accessible to the children in the Group Child Care (30 months to school age) program rooms. Exposed electrical outlets are considered a hazard and may pose a risk of injury in children. A response is required by May 19, 2026 to confirm the risk has been mitigated. A tall toy shelf in the Group Child Care (Under 36 month) program is not secure to the wall and is easily moved when pushed. Tall shelving that is not secure poses a risk of falling on children or items on the higher shelves falling onto the children. A response is required by May 19, 2026 to confirm the risk has been mitigated. The snack fridge, containing perishable food items for the children, does not have a way to ensure the temperature is safe for food storage. To ensure safe food storage and prevent food borne illness, the temperature of the fridge must not exceed 4°C. A response is required by May 19, 2026 to confirm the risk has been mitigated.
April 24, 2025Routine Inspection3 non-critical
- C6.1 - Are acceptable hygiene practices maintained?Non-critical
Observation. It was disclosed that the children attending the Group Child Care (Under 36 months) program are not washing their hands prior to eating or after toileting on a consistent basis. Children are offered a wet cloth to wipe their hands prior to eating but not washing with soap and running water. A program to instruct children in and to practice the rules of health and hygiene is required to prevent the spread of illness. A response is required by May 5, 2025 that outlines the program developed to ensure hand washing is occurring as required.
- C4.1 - Are facility records current and complete?Non-critical
Observation. Through a review of children's files the sex of the child was missing from all files reviewed. One child's file reviewed did not have the full names of the emergency contacts listed. It is required to obtain all required information in full for each child in care for reference in the event of an emergency. A response is required by May 5, 2025 to confirm all children's files are complete. Care plans have been developed for children in care. One plan reviewed outlined restraint as a form of guidance to be used. The information outlined in the plans is not sufficient to guide employees in the specific care for each child as identified. Care plans need to provide information on the behaviours or issues of concern for a child and outline what measures employees will take to address the concern and how to meet the needs of the child. A response is required by May 5, 2025 to confirm care plans have been revised to include the required information.
- C7.1 - Is the facility safe, sanitary, free from hazards, in good repair, and appropriate for the age and development of children?Non-critical
Observation. The flooring tiles in the children's washroom and in the facility hallway are loose and pose a tripping risk for children in care. It is the responsibility of the Licensee to ensure the facility is in good repair and hazards are addressed as required to avoid the risk of injury in children. A response is required by May 5, 2025 to confirm how the flooring as been addressed. The wall in one of the children's washroom is peeling and flaking paint. The children sit against the wall when they are waiting their turn for diapering and have access to the peeled paint flakes. Paint flakes are considered to be hazardous to the health and safety of a child. There is a risk a child may try to ingest the flakes due to the ages of children exposed. A response is required by May 5, 2025 to confirm the hazard has been addressed. In the Group Child Care (Under 36 months) care program a climber with a slide attached is available for the children to use. The climber does not have adequate protective surfacing under it to prevent injury. Protective surfacing is recommended for equipment that is over 18 inches to prevent the risk of injury in children. A response is required by May 5, 2025 that addresses the protective surfacing required. In the Group Child Care (Under 36 months) care program a climber and a soft block climbing piece of equipment are positioned close to each other and to the wall. Both pieces of equipment do not have adequate clearance around them. A six foot clearance around equipment is considered safest to mitigate the risk of injury in children. A response is required by May 5, 2025 that addresses the clearance as required.
