A licensee must do all of the following: (b) operate the community care facility in a manner that will promote (i) the health, safety and dignity of persons in care,

Observation. A child's emergency medication expired in March of this year.

Corrective action. The Manager said that she will obtain non-expired medication.

Without limiting subsection (1), a licensee must ensure that (a) children attending a community care facility are divided into groups, with each group having no more children than that permitted in Schedule E.

Observation. There were 18 children with one staff in one of the rooms and there were kindergarten and grade 1 students in care. The ratio must be 1 staff to 12 children if there are kindergarten or grade 1 students in care. The Manager said that the second staff was late today.

Corrective action. Please provide a plan advising how you will ensure compliance with staff to child ratios at all times.

A licensee must: (b) have an emergency plan that sets out procedures to prepare for, mitigate, respond to and recover from any emergency.

Observation. The fire extinguisher required to be serviced this month.

Corrective action. Please ensure the fire extinguisher is serviced annually.

A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (i) a photograph or digital image of the child, and other information that can be used to readily identify the child in an emergency.

Observation. Photos were missing for 9 children.

Corrective action. Please ensure staff have access to children's photos.

The licensee must (b) review the care plan at least once each year with a parent of the child requiring extra support and any person requested by the parent.

Observation. 3 care plans were not reviewed with the parents.

Corrective action. The Manager said that she will review the care plans and record the date of the review.
