A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (b) character references in respect of the person.

Observation. Upon inspection, Licensing reviewed 3 staff files, 2 files were missing references

Corrective action. References will be provided for the 2 staff files

A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (a) name, sex, date of birth, medical insurance plan number and immunization status.

Observation. Upon inspection, Licensing observed multiple children's files to be missing their immunization status.

Corrective action. The files will be reviewed to update immunization status.

A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (a) a criminal record check for the person.

Observation. Licensing observed that one staff's criminal record check had just recently expired

Corrective action. The owner stated she would re-apply for the criminal record check

The licensee must (b) review the care plan at least once each year with a parent of the child requiring extra support and any person requested by the parent.

Observation. Licensing observed a care plan that did not contain evidence of when the plan was created.

Corrective action. Please ensure that care plans are reviewed at least once a year with a parent of the child requiring extra support.

In respect of a record referred to in this Division, a licensee must (a) keep in a single place at the community care facility the records referred to in sections 56 to 58.

Observation. The staff who is on-site could not produce their file.

Corrective action. Please ensure that all staff files with required documents are at the facility.

A licensee must ensure that children have at all times immediate access to an employee who (a) holds a valid first aid and CPR certificate, provided on completion of a course that meets the requirements of Schedule C.

Observation. A staff who is left alone with the children has an expired first aid.

Corrective action. Please ensure children have at all times immediate access to an employee who (a) holds a valid first aid and CPR certificate

A licensee must keep current records of each of the following: (d) written policies and procedures that are intended to guide employees in the care and supervision of children.

Observation. DLSOP Active Play – The Licensee has not developed and/or implemented an Active Play Policy.

Corrective action. Please ensure there is an active play policy that is intended to guide employees.

Observation. Review of staff files found that 1 staff did not have a resume on file

Corrective action. Ensure staff files are complete

A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (d) copies of any diplomas, certificates or other evidence of the person's training and skills.

Observation. During review of staff files it was found that 1 person does not have the documentation for responsible adult.

Corrective action. Ensure that staff files are complete or an exemption for staff qualifications is applied for until the staff person has all of the necessary training in place.
