A licensee must keep current records of each of the following: (c) a record respecting compliance with section 22 (2) (b) and (c) [emergency training and equipment]. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Upon inspection, Licensing observed the emergency drill had not been recorded.
Corrective action. The Manager said the drill had been practiced, but not recorded. The Manager recorded the drill at the time of the inspection.

Despite this section, licensee may employ a person as a volunteer who does not provide care to children or supervise children if the licensee or the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following (b) character references in respect of the person.
Observation. The volunteer did not have a record of their character references.
Corrective action. The Manager advised that she will obtain 2 character references from the volunteer.

A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee is satisfied, based on the information available to the licensee under subsection (1) and the licensee's or, in the case of an employee who is not the manager, the manager's own observations on meeting the person, that the person (a) is of good character.
Observation. One staff did not have record of their character references.
Corrective action. The Manager advised she will obtain 2 character references from this staff.

A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility as (a) an educator or an assistant unless the person holds a certificate issued under Division 2 [Employee Qualifications], which must be verified by the system maintained by the early childhood educator registry.
