    Observation. On April 9th, there were 9 children in care and the facility is licensed to provide care to a maximum of 8 children at one time. It was confirmed that this occurred on more than one occasion.

    Corrective action. The max capacity of 8 children cannot be exceeded.

    Observation. On April 9th, there were 9 children in attendance and the attendance record showed that there were 7 children in care. It was also confirmed that on multiple occasions, the attendance record did not accurately reflect the numbers of kids in care. This is considered a repeat contravention as discrepancies with the attendance record was observed in the past routine inspections.

    Observation. The fridge temperature measured at 9.8 degrees Celsius. The Licensee explained that sometimes the temperature is too cold and the milk is frozen.

    Corrective action. Please ensure fridge temperature is maintained between 0 and 4 degrees Celsius.

    Observation. During inspection, Licensing observed two mattresses were used in a crib for sleeping purposes for Infants and Toddlers. The Licensee explained this is to help support staff when bending to lift children.

    Corrective action. Please ensure to supply equipment, furniture and supplies are of sturdy and safe construction, easy to clean and free from hazards.

    A licensee must ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Upon inspection of the cupboards located in the Kitchen area, Licensing observed adult scissors, dish soap and bleach were accessible to children. Although there were child proof locks available, they were not being used to secure the cupboards.

    Corrective action. Please ensure a health and safety environment is provided.

    A licensee, other than a licensee who provides a care program described as either Preschool (30 Months to School Age) or Group Child Care (School Age), must have in a community care facility a sturdy surface for changing diapers, located outside the food preparation area, next to (a) a covered container for soiled clothing.

    Observation. Licensing observed multiple soiled diapers being placed into an open plastic bag, next to the change mat on the floor, which is used to change children. There was a covered container for soiled diapers. The Licensee explained in order to save bags, this is not being used.

    Corrective action. Ensure a covered container is used to place soiled diapers.
