  Observation. The Manager said the the emergency evacuation drill is not being practiced and recorded once a year as required

  Observation. Upon inspection, Licensing observed Lysol stored on a shelf accessible to children.

  A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.

  Observation. Upon inspection, Licensing observed the tables for high chairs are peeling.

  Without limiting subsection (1), a licensee must ensure that (b) the ratio of employees to children attending a community care facility is no less than that permitted in Schedule E.

  Observation. Upon inspection, Licensing observed one staff leave the premise for a few minutes. The Manager explained that this is not a common occurrence.

  Corrective action. Please ensure that the ratio of employees to children attending is no less than permitted in Schedule E.

• STAFFING

  A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (a) a criminal record check for the person.

  Observation. Upon inspection, there was no criminal record check for 1 staff in the program. The Manager explained that all documents have been submitted for CRC renewal.

  Corrective action. Please ensure staff records are complete.

  A licensee must ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child.

  Observation. Upon inspection the following was observed accessible to children: - Cleaning products under the sink in the washroom - Clorox wipes and bleach in the play area The Manager explained how the facility cleans frequently and having the products close by makes it easier.

  Corrective action. Please ensure that children do not have access to any objects or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child.

  A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility as (a) an educator or an assistant unless the person holds a certificate issued under Division 2 [Employee Qualifications], which must be verified by the system maintained by the early childhood educator registry. (Educator or assistant certificate validation)

  Observation. Upon review of staff records, two staff did not have certificate verified by the system maintained by the early childhood educator registry. The Manager explained that both staff have renewed their Certificate and that she was unaware this needs to be validated each time.

  Corrective action. Please ensure certificates issued under Division 2 are verified by the system maintained by the early childhood educator registry
