If a licensee has agreed with a parent to give a child any medication prescribed by a medical practitioner or provided by the parent, the licensee and his or her employees must ensure that the medication is (b) readily accessible to employees.

Observation. Licensing reviewed child's epi-pens and puffers. Licensing was first shown expired epi-pen when requested. Another epi-pen was found in the bag that was not expired. Licensing also observed multiple puffers in the bag; some that are not being used.

Corrective action. The manager said that the bag of medication will be reviewed to ensure only correct and non-expired medication is accessible.

The licensee must (b) review the care plan at least once each year with a parent of the child requiring extra support and any person requested by the parent.

Observation. Licensing observed one child's care plan was not reviewed annually.

Corrective action. The manager said the care plan will be reviewed with the parent

A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Open bag of dog food was accessible to children in the outdoor play area. Manager removed it during inspection.

Corrective action. Manager said that dog food will be stored out of children's reach.

A licensee must: (b) have an emergency plan that sets out procedures to prepare for, mitigate, respond to and recover from any emergency.

Observation. No fire drills were practiced in April and May.

Corrective action. Manager said that fire drills will be practiced and recorded monthly.

A licensee must ensure that the policies and procedures referred to in subsection (1) are implemented by employees. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Dog was accessible to the children; pet policy was not being followed. This was corrected immediately during inspection.

Corrective action. Manager said pet policy will be followed.
