Corrective action. The Manager will address the contravention.

Observation. During an inspection of the outdoor play area, the following was observed: - Two hoses were unraveled and poses as a tripping hazard. - A plastic bag with dirty diapers were left in the backyard. The Manager said that she was going to throw them in the trash but had a busy afternoon.
Corrective action. The Manager will address the contravention.

- STAFFING
A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (a) a criminal record check for the person.
Observation. The Manager did not have a copy of their Criminal Record Check available for review, as well as for the residents of the home.
Corrective action. Please ensure that staff files (including Manager's) are complete and CRCs are available for the residents of the home who are ordinarily present during operating hours.

A licensee must ensure that each employee (b) practices implementing the fire drill system at least once each month. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Upon review of the fire drill records, it was found that no records were available from May-Aug 2021. The Licensee explained that the fire drill is practiced every month but did not record them for the aforementioned months.
Corrective action. Please ensure the fire drill system is being implemented and recorded once a month.

Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Upon inspection, the gate at the bottom of the stairs, to the upper floor of the house was not in place when CCFL arrived at the facility.
Corrective action. Please ensure that the gate is in place before the children arrive at the facility.

Observation. Upon inspection of the backyard, there was a metal pole over 8 feet in height, standing on its end,unanchored, that posed a fall hazard.
Corrective action. Please ensure children do not have access to any object that may be hazardous to the health and safety of a child.

- EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must ensure that all indoor and outdoor play materials and equipment accessible to children are (b) safely constructed, free from hazards and in good repair.
Observation. Little Tykes equipment in the backyard is in need of cleaning. The Licensee stated this is done in the spring.
Corrective action. Please submit a plan to CCFL stating how the equipment in the backyard will be kept clean.
11190 - CCLR s.16(4)(b) - EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child.
Observation. The following were accessible to children: In the backyard a hatchet and wooden construction planks. Inside the facility vitamins, cosmetics, adult supplements, glass jars of food on the kitchen floor, herbal candies, zincofax, sharp knives in a kitchen draw. This is repeat noncompliance and was noted on routine inspection #KFIH-BAANSZ dated March 15, 2019.
Corrective action. Please make sure children do not have access to these objects.

A licensee must ensure that any heated water accessible to children is heated to no more than 49° Celsius. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Hot water accessible to children was 50c. Children must not have access to water more than 49c
Corrective action. The hot water was turned off during this inspection.
11230 - CCLR s.47 - EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): The gate at the bottom of the stairs to the upper floor of the house was not in place when CCFL arrived at the inspection. The gate was put into place at the request of CCFL.
Corrective action. The gate at the bottom of the stairs must be in place when children are in the facility.

Observation. Bedding used at nap time is stored in a cupboard and each child's bedding is not stored separately.
Corrective action. To reduce the risk of spreading germs each child's bedding needs to be stored separately (eg in a Rubbermaid container or bag).

Observation. CCFL observed a large box of figs on the floor in the main play room. Boxes and bags of foods were stored on counters and chairs throughout the facility. This is repeat noncompliance and was noted on routine inspection #KFIH-BAANSZ dated March 15, 2019 and routine inspection #WBET-AWKP66 dated March 5 2018.
Corrective action. Food must not be stored on the floor or on counters and chairs.

Observation. The fridge temperature was measured at 7.1c.
Corrective action. To ensure safe storage of food please make sure the fridge temperature is between 0-4c.

A licensee must have all of the following: (b) an emergency plan that sets out procedures to prepare for, mitigate, respond to and recover from any emergency.
Observation. The facility does not have an emergency kit (supplies for up to 72 hours) that could be taken to the emergency location. The manager stated she did not know that she needed an emergency kit.
Corrective action. Please make sure that there are emergency supplies available for up to 72 hours.

A licensee must ensure that each employee (c) practices implementing the emergency plan at least once each year.
Observation. The Licensee stated an emergency drill has not taken place in the past 12 months.
