Observation. Licensing observed the following: - A bleach bottle solution was accessible on the shelf in the 3-5 program. - A bleach bottle solution was accessible on the table in the IT 3 program.

Corrective action. The Manager will address the contravention.

A licensee must keep, for each child requiring extra support, a current care plan showing the following information: (b) the courses of action recommended by health care professionals to address the needs of the child requiring extra support.

Observation. A child with allergies did not have a care plan outlining the courses of action recommended by health care professionals.

Corrective action. The Manager will obtain this information.

A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (b) character references in respect of the person.

Observation. Evidence of character references were not available for one staff.

Corrective action. The Manager will obtain this information.

A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (f) evidence that the person has complied with the Province's immunization and tuberculosis control programs.

Observation. Immunization status was not obtained for one staff.

Corrective action. The Manager will obtain this information.

A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility as (a) an educator or an assistant unless the person holds a certificate issued under Division 2 [Employee Qualifications], which must be verified by the system maintained by the early childhood educator registry. (Educator or assistant certificate validation)

Observation. A staff's ECE certificate was not validated by the system maintained by the Registry.

Corrective action. The Manager will validate the staff's certificate and keep the results in the file.

Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): During an inspection of the bathrooms, it was found that bleach bottles and diaper creams were accessible to children. The staff moved them to a high shelf during the inspection.

A licensee must: (b) have an emergency plan that sets out procedures to prepare for, mitigate, respond to and recover from any emergency.

Observation. The emergency supplies were inspected and it was found that there was insufficient water for 72 hours.

Corrective action. The Manager will purchase more water.

A licensee must keep current records of each of the following: (c) a record respecting compliance with section 22 (2) (b) and (c) [emergency training and equipment]. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): The fire drill record was not recorded for Oct 2024. The staff said that this was completed, but forgot to record it.

Observation. A child who requires additional support did not have a care plan that includes the course of action recommended by health care professionals

Corrective action. The Manager will create a care plan for the child that includes the course of action recommended by health care professionals.

Observation. Staff are not trained on the facility's policies and procedures.

Corrective action. Ensure that staff have the training necessary to carry out the duties assigned to them.

A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

Observation. In the IT3 room, there were outlets that were uncovered.

Corrective action. Please ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times.

A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.

Observation. A toilet tank in the bathroom was uncovered and was covered by a potty seat. The Licensee said that the cover was dropped and broke and they are in the process of purchasing a new one.

Corrective action. Please ensure that the fixtures within the facility are clean and in good repair.

Observation. The fire drill was not recorded for October 2023. The Licensee said that it was practiced but was not recorded.

Corrective action. Please ensure that fire drills are practiced and recorded monthly.

A licensee must ensure that all indoor and outdoor play materials and equipment accessible to children are (b) safely constructed, free from hazards and in good repair.

Observation. Upon inspection of the outdoor play area, it was observed that one of the bike pedals were missing a cover, exposing the metal pedal.

Corrective action. Please ensure that all indoor and outdoor play materials accessible to children are in good repair.

Observation. Criminal Record Checks were not available for two staff. The Manager said that paperwork has already been sent for one staff, and the other staff's CRC was completed but was not available for review at the time of inspection.
