  A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.

  Observation. Licensing observed the following; - In one of the children's bathroom, the sink is starting to detach from the wall - A table in the dramatic play area has two holes and the finish is starting to peal off

  Corrective action. Please ensure furniture, equipment and fixtures within the facility are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance

• RECORDS AND REPORTING

  A licensee must keep, for each child requiring extra support, a current care plan showing the following information: (b) the courses of action recommended by health care professionals to address the needs of the child requiring extra support.

  Observation. Licensing observed a care plan that did not state course of action. Education and resources will be sent.

  Corrective action. Please ensure that care plans show information of course of action to address the needs of the child

• STAFFING

  A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (a) a criminal record check for the person.

  Observation. Licensing reviewed 4 staff files, and 1 file was missing evidence of a current criminal record check.

  Corrective action. Please ensure staff files contain evidence of current criminal record checks

• Without limiting subsection (1), a licensee must ensure that (a) children attending a community care facility are divided into groups, with each group having no more children than that permitted in Schedule E.

  Observation. Licensing determined that children were not divided into groups as per Schedule E.

  Observation. Licensing determined that the daily attendance record was not always accurately recorded.

• Without limiting subsection (1), a licensee must ensure that (b) the ratio of employees to children attending a community care facility is no less than that permitted in Schedule E.

  Observation. Licensing determined that the staff to child ratio was not always in accordance with Schedule E.

  14030 - CCLR s.34(2)(b)

• STAFFING

  A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility as (a) an educator or an assistant unless the person holds a certificate issued under Division 2 [Employee Qualifications], which must be verified by the system maintained by the early childhood educator registry. (Educator or assistant certificate validation)

  Observation. Upon inspection, one or more staff file did not have a certificate validation.

  Corrective action. Please ensure all educator and assistants have their certificate verified by the system maintained by the early childhood educator registry.

• STAFFING

  A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (f) evidence that the person has complied with the Province's immunization and tuberculosis control programs.

  Observation. Immunization status was not obtained for one or more employees.

  Corrective action. Please ensure the immunization status is obtained for all employees.

  Without limiting subsection (1), a licensee must ensure that (b) the ratio of employees to children attending a community care facility is no less than that permitted in Schedule E.

  Observation. Licensing observed 10 children in care with 1 staff, Manager was aware they were out of ratio, but went off site.

  Corrective action. Please ensure that child to staff ratio is no less than that permitted in Schedule E.

• RECORDS AND REPORTING

  A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (b) date of enrolment in the community care facility.

  Observation. Review of 4 children's file demonstrated 1 missing the enrolment date.

  Corrective action. Please ensure that children's enrolment date are recorded.

  A licensee must keep, for each child requiring extra support, a current care plan showing the following information: (b) the courses of action recommended by health care professionals to address the needs of the child requiring extra support.

  Observation. Licensing observed the care plans does not include the course of action, the staff on site was able to fully explain the steps and course of action that needs to be taken.

  Corrective action. Please ensure a care plan is written with the course of action to mitigate risk to children.
