  A licensee must ensure that the entire outdoor play area is (a) enclosed in a manner that is suitable for the age and development of children, and will ensure that children are free of harm.

  Observation. Licensing observed a large gap measuring 11 inches underneath the outdoor fence. Staff took a photo to show it to the manager. This is repeat contravention.

  Corrective action. Manager to provide a plan to Licensing address this.

  Observation. Medication required in a child's care plan was not on site.

  Corrective action. Ensure medication named in a child’s care plan is on site when child is in care.

  A licensee must: (b) have an emergency plan that sets out procedures to prepare for, mitigate, respond to and recover from any emergency.

  Observation. Licensing Officer observed expired water (2022) and no food supplies in the 72 hours emergency supply kit. Staff said that the food is stored in a locked space to which they did not have access.

  Corrective action. Provide a plan to ensure emergency supplies are not expired and easily accessible at all times.

  In respect of a record referred to in this Division, a licensee must (b) keep a record other than one referred to in paragraph (a) in a place from which it can be retrieved within a reasonable time, on request.

  Observation. Licensing could not review employee records as staff did not have access to the room where they were kept.

  Corrective action. Ensure employee records are accessible for Licensing review during inspections.

• STAFFING

  A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (f) evidence that the person has complied with the Province's immunization and tuberculosis control programs. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Licensing reviewed 4 staff files and one staff was missing a record of their immunization status.

  Observation. Upon inspection of the outdoor play area, Licensing found a gap in the fence posing an entrapment hazard.

  Corrective action. Please ensure that a health and safe environment is provided at all times.

  Observation. Upon inspection, Licensing observed cleaning products stored under the sink, accessible to children in one program. Staff explained there is a system to store the products in a different area, away from children.

  When advertising or otherwise offering services to the public, a licensee must identify the care program being offered.

  Observation. Upon review of child registration forms, it was noted that preschool care is being offered. The Staff explained that the Group Child Care Program runs for shorter hours.

  Corrective action. Please ensure only services that hold a license are advertised and provided.

  Observation. During observation of the climbing equipment in the outdoor play area, it was found that the paint is chipped and in some places jagged rusted areas of the metal is exposed
