    Observation. Observed the manager name was not posted with all other staffing information for families.

    Corrective action. Please ensure all relevant information is prominently posted to inform families.

  • MEDICATION

    If a licensee has agreed with a parent to give a child any medication prescribed by a medical practitioner or provided by the parent, the licensee and his or her employees must ensure that the medication is (b) readily accessible to employees.

    Observation. Medication was not readily accessible to employees for a child requiring additional support. Staff said that medication is not always provided on a daily basis and would not always have access to medication in an emergency.

    Corrective action. Please ensure a child requiring emergency medication does not attend without the medication being available and accessible to staff.

    A licensee must keep, for each child requiring extra support, a current care plan showing the following information: (b) the courses of action recommended by health care professionals to address the needs of the child requiring extra support.

    Observation. A care plan reviewed does not include the course of action recommended by health care professionals for a child requiring additional support. A second child requiring additional support did not have a care plan available for review instructing staff how to respond in an emergency situation.

    Corrective action. Please ensure staff have access to instructions of signs and symptoms and how to respond appropriately to ensure safe care.

    A licensee must ensure that each employee (c) practices implementing the emergency plan at least once each year.

    Observation. In discussion with staff, an emergency evacuation drill has not been completed with a full evacuation as per facility policies and procedures for emergency evacuation. Staff did acknowledge that earthquake drills are practiced regularly. Further discussed with staff.

    Corrective action. Please ensure an annual emergency evacuation drill is practiced by all staff, using the procedure provided in facility policy handbook.

Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Licensing observed both GCC<36 mths and GCC (30-sa) groups mixing during outdoor play. Discussed further with the manager.

    Corrective action. A reminder to follow the schedule provided at application and maintain groups as per legislative requirements.
