  A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

  Observation. Licensing observed the following: - several items of outdoor tools and cleaning equipment in the child care space, accessible to children. - Cleaning products in the bathroom accessible to the children.

• POLICIES AND PROCEDURES

  A licensee must keep current records of each of the following: (c) a record respecting compliance with section 22 (2) (b) and (c) [emergency training and equipment].

  Observation. Emergency evacuation records were not completed. Licensing notes that fire drill records are complete. Manager said that the annual evacuation drill is practiced towards the end of the year.

  Corrective action. Emergency drill record template was provided by Licensing and will be recorded going forward.

• STAFFING

  A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (a) a criminal record check for the person.

  Observation. Criminal Record Check not obtained for two staff with expired CRC's. One staff was working on site today.

  Corrective action. Manager will ensure this staff completes the CRC today and provide a health and safety plan in response.

• RECORDS AND REPORTING

  A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (d) name and telephone number of a parent, medical practitioner and emergency contact.

  Observation. During the routine inspection 8 children's files were reviewed and one child's file was missing a doctor's name and phone number and one child's file was missing and emergency contact number. Manager said that the family is new to the country and they do not have an emergency person who can pick up their child as of yet.

  Corrective action. Please ensure all children's files are complete.

• STAFFING

  A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (f) evidence that the person has complied with the Province's immunization and tuberculosis control programs.

  Observation. During the routine inspection 4 staff files were reviewed an one staff file was missing a record of immunization.

  Corrective action. Please ensure all staff files are complete.

• If the child has a care plan that includes instructions respecting behavioural guidance, the licensee must ensure that (a) any behavioural guidance given to the child is consistent with those instructions.

  Observation. Licensing determined a care plan was not being followed.

• RECORDS AND REPORTING

  A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (c) daily attendance record, indicating for each day whether the child is absent or, if the child is present, the time of arrival and departure.

  Observation. Audit of attendance records revealed that the departure times for the before school children has not been recorded
