• EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS

  A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

  Observation. Observed the following: -Staff purse accessible to the children being stored on the low cubbies -Facility heating is not working and temperature reads 14.9 degrees Celcius, using a digital thermomenter. This does not provide a comfortable and healthy environment for children, particularly babies who do not move around much.

  Corrective action. Manager said that the heating would be fixed this afternoon and parents are aware and allow children to wear their coats inside. Please provide a corrective action plan to Licensing

  A licensee must ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Bleach was accessible to children in the cupboard under the sink in one program.

  Corrective action. Corrected at inspection

• STAFFING

  A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (f) evidence that the person has complied with the Province's immunization and tuberculosis control programs.

  Observation. Immunization status was not obtained for one or more employees.

  Corrective action. Manager will ensure information is added to staff files.

• STAFFING

  A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility as (a) an educator or an assistant unless the person holds a certificate issued under Division 2 [Employee Qualifications], which must be verified by the system maintained by the early childhood educator registry. (Educator or assistant certificate validation)

  Observation. All staff files reviewed did not have evidence the validation has been obtained for all certified staff. Education provided to manager.

  Corrective action. Manager will access the ECE Registry site and validate all staff certificates
