• RECORDS AND REPORTING

  A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (d) name and telephone number of a parent, medical practitioner and emergency contact.

  Observation. Two child file were missing emergency contacts.

  Corrective action. Licensee will add emergency contacts to the files.

• STAFFING

  A licensee must ensure that each employee (c) practices implementing the emergency plan at least once each year.

  Observation. Licensing observed through discussion with the staff that this staff had not practiced the annual evacuation drill. Staff was aware of the secondary location.

  Corrective action. Please ensure all employees are trainined and implement the annual emergency evacuation plan.

• LICENSING

  A licensee must display in a prominent place in the community care facility both the licence, including any terms or conditions of the licence, and the name of the manager.

  Observation. No evidence of manager's name was posted at the facility.

  Corrective action. Ensure the manager's name is displayed within the facility

• STAFFING

  A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility as (a) an educator or an assistant unless the person holds a certificate issued under Division 2 [Employee Qualifications], which must be verified by the system maintained by the early childhood educator registry. (Educator or assistant certificate validation)

  Observation. Two staff files were reviewed and there was no evidence of either staff file containing a current validation having been completed and valid.

  Corrective action. Ensure all staff with ECE or ECEa certifications have been verified via the ECE Registry.

• STAFFING

  A licensee must ensure that each employee (b) practices implementing the fire drill system at least once each month.

  Observation. Review of the fired drill log showed no evidence of the a fire drill having occurred in May 2022. Manager informed she is aware they did not complete a drill in May and are planning to complete the June drill next week.

  Corrective action. Ensure a fire drill is completed on a monthly basis.

• STAFFING

  A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (b) character references in respect of the person.

  Observation. Two staff files were reviewed during the inspection and in one of the two files, there was no evidence of a character references having been completed.

  Corrective action. Ensure character references are completed for all staff who are employed at the facility.
