  • C1.1 - Does the licensee continually inform licensing of any significant changes to the structure or operation of the facility?Critical

    Observation. A new fence was installed at the facility. Licensing was not notified of the change as required. It is the responsibility of the Licensee to inform Licensing of any significant changes made to the outdoor play area to ensure the health and safety of children in care. An outdoor play space change notification is required to be submitted to Licensing Direct by April 21, 2026.

  • C4.1 - Are facility records current and complete?Non-critical

    Observation. Children's files are incomplete. One child's file is missing the name and number of a medical practitioner and the start date the child attended care. This is a re-occurring contravention originally found out of compliance on April 14, 2023, April 22, 2024, and March 31, 2025. Current and complete records are required to be on file for all children to ensure their health and safety while in care at the facility. A response is required by April 21, 2026 to confirm all children's files are complete. The care plan for one child was last reviewed in January 2025. Care plans are required to be reviewed at minimum once per year to ensure the plan is relevant to the child's needs and for the health and safety of the child while in care. A response is required by April 21, 2026 to confirm the plan has been reviewed as required.

  • C10.2 - Are children supervised, and are employee to children ratios maintained?Critical

    Observation. The Child Care Licensing Regulation requires children in care must be divided into groups such that the number of children in each group is no more than set out in Schedule E. All of the children in both Group Child Care (Under 36 months) care programs were observed eating afternoon snack in the same area of the facility at the same time. The group size with the children eating in the same area exceeds the maximum allowance of children per group. A response is required by April 15, 2025 that outlines the system developed to ensure the group size does not exceed the maximum as per Schedule E of the Regulation.

    Observation. The Child Care Licensing Regulation requires current records for each child with identifying personal information. Through a review of children's files the sex of the child is missing from all files. This is a reoccurring contravention originally found out of compliance on April 22, 2024. A response is required by April 11, 2025 to confirm all children's files are complete and outline the system developed to ensure children's files have all of the required information. The Child Care Licensing Regulation requires written consent from a parent to call a medical practitioner or ambulance for each child. One child's file reviewed out of a sampling of files is missing consent to call a medical practitioner or ambulance. This is a reoccurring contravention originally found out of compliance on May 10, 2022. A response is required by April 11, 2025 to confirm all children's files are complete and the outline the system developed to ensure children's files have all of the required information.

  • C8.1 - Are children offered a variety of activities and instructed on the safe use of the play space?Non-critical

    Observation. Licensing observed children in the Group Child Care (30 months to school age) program riding a variety of bicycles on the paved path in the outdoor play space. The children were not wearing helmets while riding the bikes. Bike helmets are required to prevent the risk of injury in children and to teach children about injury prevention. A response is required by April 11, 2025 that outlines the system developed to ensure proper safety equipment is being used as required.

    Observation. A sampling of staff files was reviewed during inspection. All employee files reviewed are incomplete. This is a reoccurring contravention originally found out of compliance on May 10, 2022. Employee files must be complete and on site prior to any employee working directly with children. Outline the system developed to ensure employee files are complete and on site.

  • C9.1 - Are there plans and actions in place to ensure medications are stored and administered properly?Non-critical

    Observation. Medication is being stored in the Group Child Care (30 months to school age) program in the fridge door that is accessible and within reach of the children. Medication needs to be stored in a manner that is not accessible to any child. Outline the system developed to store medication accordingly.

  • C7.1 - Is the facility safe, sanitary, free from hazards, in good repair, and appropriate for the age and development of children?Non-critical

    Observation. In both of the outdoor playspaces there are spaces under the fence that pose a risk of entrapment. Openings need to be smaller than 3.5 inches and larger than 9 inches. Outline the system developed to identify and ensure outdoor playspaces are safe for children.

  • C4.1 - Are facility records current and complete?Non-critical

    Observation. Through a review of children's files the sex of the child is missing from all files. Records for each child must be complete prior to a child commencing care in a facility. Outline the system developed to ensure children's files are complete. In reviewing a sampling of children's files two children in the Group Child Care (30 months to School Age) do not have updated photos. Current photos or digital image of each child needs to be kept on file that can be used to readily identify the child in an emergency, Outline the system developed to ensure child photos are kept up to date. Care plans are missing for children who require extra medical support. Care plans are required for children who have an epi-pen or other medical needs that may require extra support. Identify the system developed to ensure all required care plans are in place. Care plans on file for children who require extra behavioral support did not have evidence that the plan has been reviewed annually. Care plans need to be reviewed at minimum annually with the parent and any other third party involved with the child's care. Outline the system developed to ensure care plans are reviewed as required.

  • C10.1 - Are children provided with a healthy and safe environment, and protected from harmful actions?Non-critical

    Observation. It was observed during rest time a child being put to sleep in a stroller. The manager confirmed the child does nap in the stroller on a regular basis. Children need to be offered a space to sleep where they are able to freely move their bodies as needed during rest time. Outline the system developed to ensure all children are offered a comfortable place to rest as required.
