A licensee must supply equipment, furniture and supplies that are (b) located so as not to block or hamper an exit in the case of fire or other emergency. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): A plastic play kitchen was located in front of the emergency exit blocking access

A licensee must ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child.

Observation. -Several loose cords and lanyards were located at the children's level. Lanyards were removed. -Several areas had plastic bags. These were accessible to children -Batteries were observed at the children's level. These were removed during the inspection -Diaper cream was located at the children's level -Chemicals such as sanitizing wipes, hand sanitizing wipes, bleach and various other spray bottles with chemicals were within easy reach of the children. All items present a potential hazard

Corrective action. Please ensure children have no access to hazardous objects and substances. In discussion the Licensee will remove these items today. The cords will be secured on the weekend.

A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

Observation. -Windows had dust and black particles on the window. This could potentially be mold -A gate was located at the children's level. This was not secured and was easy to move

Corrective action. In discussion the Licensee said she will secure the gate and clean the windows on the weekend

A licensee must: (b) have an emergency plan that sets out procedures to prepare for, mitigate, respond to and recover from any emergency.

Observation. -More food is required for the emergency supplies to be prepared in an emergency

Corrective action. In discussion the Licensee has found a larger bag to add more snacks.

A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (i) a photograph or digital image of the child, and other information that can be used to readily identify the child in an emergency.

Observation. A photo was missing from one of the children's records

Corrective action. In discussion the Licensee said the photo will be obtained today

A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (c) daily attendance record, indicating for each day whether the child is absent or, if the child is present, the time of arrival and departure.

Observation. Three attendance departure times were missing in the months of November and December

A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (a) a criminal record check for the person.

Observation. A staff was working at the facility on her own with the children. The staff criminal record check (CRC) was not obtained from the Criminal record review program

Corrective action. In discussion the Manager said she had not received a copy of the staff CRC. Licensing will review the facility record and recommended the Licensee contact the CRC review program for follow up.

A licensee must ensure that each employee (b) practices implementing the fire drill system at least once each month.

Observation. A fire drill was not completed or recorded for the month of November

Corrective action. In discussion the Licensee had only two children present in November. She was not aware that she needed to complete this with only two children in care.
