A licensee must: (b) have an emergency plan that sets out procedures to prepare for, mitigate, respond to and recover from any emergency.
Observation. Licensing observed that the fire extinguishers were supposed to be serviced on 2021/10/20 according to the tag attached.
Corrective action. Ensure that the fire extinguishers are serviced and ready to use in case of an emergency.
13020 - CCLR s.22(1)(b) - RECORDS AND REPORTING
A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (a) name, sex, date of birth, medical insurance plan number and immunization status.
Observation. Licensing checked the children's files and observed that 7 children did not have their immunization record status on file. This item was contravened on Oct. 16, 2020 on routine inspection report #MZIN-BUFS65.
Corrective action. Ensure that the immunization record status for all children are included on file.

A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility as (a) an educator or an assistant unless the person holds a certificate issued under Division 2 [Employee Qualifications], which must be verified by the system maintained by the early childhood educator registry. Observation. Licensing checked staff files and observed that 1 staff did not have their certificate validation on file.
Corrective action. Ensure that the staff files have the certificate validation on file.

Observation. A record of the person's work history was not obtained for two employees. This item was contravened on Oct. 16, 2020 on routine inspection report #MZIN-BUFS65.
Corrective action. Ensure that the work history (resume) of staff are included on file.

- NUTRITION AND FOOD SERVICES
A licensee must do all of the following: (b) operate the community care facility in a manner that will promote (i) the health, safety and dignity of persons in care,
Observation. Information received from the licensee contact as well as the posted menu indicated that the facility is providing meals to children. Although not all food preparation requires a food permit, the menu revealed that the meals being served would require a food permit. The licensee contact explained that due to COVID-19 the previous catered food service was discontinued. Due to this, the meal preparation on site was implemented.
Corrective action. Resources have been emailed to the facility to indicate what food preparation is acceptable without a permit. Starting immediately, there shall be no meal preparation on site (apart from what is on the acceptable list). Licensing will forward information on obtaining a food permit.

A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (a) name, sex, date of birth, medical insurance plan number and immunization status.
Observation. 3 out of the 14 children's files were reviewed by licensing, and it was discovered that all 3 were missing their immunization status.
Corrective action. Please ensure children's immunization files are current.
19070 - CCLR s.57(2)(a) - RECORDS AND REPORTING
A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (c) daily attendance record, indicating for each day whether the child is absent or, if the child is present, the time of arrival and departure.
Observation. Upon review of attendance records, licensing observed a number of dates without a departure time recorded, as well as not a clear record of any absences.
Corrective action. Please ensure attendance records include arrival and departure times and any absences.
19090 - CCLR s.57(2)(c) - RECORDS AND REPORTING
A licensee must keep, for each child requiring extra support, a current care plan showing the following information: (b) the courses of action recommended by health care professionals to address the needs of the child requiring extra support.
Observation. Upon review of a child's file, it indicated a diagnosis of a medical condition. There was no care plan in place to guide the staff in the course of actions recommended to support the needs of the child in care.
Corrective action. Please ensure all children who require extra support have a care plan in place prior to enrollment. Care plans should be made in consultation with the parents and reviewed annually. Care plan information will be emailed to the facility.

Observation. 3 out of 14 children's files were reviewed. All 3 were without a date of enrollment
