A licensee must: (b) have an emergency plan that sets out procedures to prepare for, mitigate, respond to and recover from any emergency.

Observation. Though the fire extinguisher appears to be still fully charged, over a year has passed since the fire extinguisher has been purchased (April 2024).

Corrective action. Ensure that the fire extinguisher is serviced.

A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (b) date of enrolment in the community care facility. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Licensing observed that one child did not have a start date / date of enrolment recorded on file.

Corrective action. Ensure that files are complete prior to the child starting at the facility.

A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (c) daily attendance record, indicating for each day whether the child is absent or, if the child is present, the time of arrival and departure. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Licensing observed that there were a few days this month where some children's daily time of arrival and departure were not recorded on the attendance sheet. Additionally today, there were 3 children whose arrival and departure times were not recorded.

Corrective action. Ensure that daily, children's time of arrival and departure times are recorded. If parents forget, it becomes the responsibility of the facility manager to ensure that this information is recorded. Absent children should also be recorded daily.

A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

Observation. Licensing observed the following... Outdoors: - A small heavy tire is leaning which could potentially fall on children's feet - A tall tray rack was accessible to children which included trays that were inserted in the slots - A lawn mower was accessible to children - Cooking equipment (smoker, bbq) were accessible to children, as well as the propane tank Indoors: - Children's beddings were touching and were all in a pile while stored

Corrective action. Ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times.

A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.

Observation. Licensing observed that there are missing fence panels outdoors where children play.

Corrective action. Ensure that this item is repaired.

A licensee must keep current records of each of the following: (c) a record respecting compliance with section 22 (2) (b) and (c) [emergency training and equipment].

Observation. Licensing observed that the monthly fire drills were not documented and completed, since the license was issued (July 2024).

Corrective action. Ensure that the monthly fire drills are documented and completed. A reminder that emergency drills are also to be documented and completed yearly.

A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (a) name, sex, date of birth, medical insurance plan number and immunization status.

Observation. Licensing observed that one child did not have an immunization status record on file.

Corrective action. Ensure that this information is included on file.

A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (d) name and telephone number of a parent, medical practitioner and emergency contact.

Observation. Licensing observed the following regarding two children's files: - One child did not have a medical practitioner name and phone number - One child had a phone number for the emergency contact, though the emergency contact's name was not included

Corrective action. Ensure that the files are complete. Emergency contacts should be different from the parents.
