- EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.
Observation. Licensing observed the following in one of the bathrooms of the program (portable 2): - flooring flaking - paint chipping on the wall near the toilet - peeling finish on the wall as well as the panel board protruding
Corrective action. Ensure that the facility is in good repair.

Corrective action. All employees must complete their ≥ 20 hours of RA coursework by their 1st day of employment.

A licensee must: (b) have an emergency plan that sets out procedures to prepare for, mitigate, respond to and recover from any emergency.
Observation. REPEAT VIOLATION from FIRs #CGEE-BH3UNE (18/Oct/2019). Portable 1's 72-hour emergency kit had water bottles that expired in Sep/2021.
Corrective action. Foods & drinks past their expiry, best before, or use by dates must be discarded & replaced.
13020 - CCLR s.22(1)(b) - RECORDS AND REPORTING
The licensee must (b) review the care plan at least once each year with a parent of the child requiring extra support and any person requested by the parent.
Observation. A child's care plan was last signed & dated in Apr/2021.
Corrective action. Care plans must be reviewed (signed/dated) annually w/ a parent to discuss any possible changes to the child's support needs.

A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (d) name and telephone number of a parent, medical practitioner and emergency contact.

Corrective action. If children lack a family doctor, their last medical clinic's contact information is sufficient.

Corrective action. These employees cannot work alone w/ children until their CRCs have arrived.

Observation. CCFL reviewed 12 children's files & emergency consent cards & didn't see any photos. The manager explained that not all children have photos (digital or hardcopy).
Corrective action. Recent photos (hardcopy or digital) are required for each child by their 1st day of care.

A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (b) date of enrolment in the community care facility. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): CCFL reviewed 12 children's files. 4 children's start dates only listed the month & year.
Corrective action. Children's start dates must be fully documented (date, month, & year).

Observation. CCFL reviewed 12 children's files. A child lacked any medical practitioner's information. 3 children had a Dr or medical clinic listed w/o a phone #.
Corrective action. Children's medical pratitioner's full contact info must be obtained by their 1st day of care.

A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (a) a criminal record check for the person.
Observation. CCFL reviewed 10 employees' files. An employee lacked her BC Ministry of Justice CRC.
Corrective action. Employees' CRCs must be obtained by their 1st day of employment.

A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (f) evidence that the person has complied with the Province's immunization and tuberculosis control programs.
Observation. CCFL reviewed 10 employees' files. 2 employes lacked their immunization status.
Corrective action. Employees' immunization statuses must be obtained by their 1st day of employment.

Corrective action. All employees who are part of ratio must obtain their 20 hours of a course or courses re. child development, guidance, health & safety, or nutrition by their 1st day of employment. The manager applied for an exemption to CCLR s.29(c) for this employee during the inspection.
