A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

Observation. 1) Outdoor play space: The bottom of a wooden fence slat was broken, resulting in a jagged opening > 3.5". 2) Indoors: A narrow, child-height cabinet was not affixed to the wall.

Corrective action. 1) To prevent entrapment, spaces must be < 3.5" or > 9". 2) Please secure child-height cabinets to the wall to prevent them from falling onto a child.

A licensee must ensure that any heated water accessible to children is heated to no more than 49° Celsius.

Observation. A sink in the children's washroom reached 49.6 °C on CCFL's DeltaTrak thermometer.

Corrective action. Water accessible to children must never exceed 49 °C.

A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (a) name, sex, date of birth, medical insurance plan number and immunization status.

Observation. 12 children's files were reviewed & 1 lacked his immunization status.

Corrective action. All requirements of s. 57 must be obtained by children's 1st day of care.

The licensee must (b) review the care plan at least once each year with a parent of the child requiring extra support and any person requested by the parent.

Observation. A child's care plan lacked their parent's signature (w/ date), as evidence it has been reviewed annually.

Corrective action. Please review children's care plans w/ their parent(s) annually.

A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

Observation. LO observed and discussed the following with the Manager: Edge of the window ( by the office) located in the classroom started to crack.

Corrective action. Ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are in care.

A licensee, other than a licensee who provides a care program described as either Preschool (30 Months to School Age) or Group Child Care (School Age), must have in a community care facility a sturdy surface for changing diapers, located outside the food preparation area, next to (a) a covered container for soiled clothing.

Observation. A cover (lid) of the garbage can was missing in the washroom.

Corrective action. Ensure that covered container (i.e. garbage can with lid) is available in the washroom.

A licensee must display in a prominent place in the community care facility both the licence, including any terms or conditions of the licence, and the name of the manager. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): The name of the manager was not posted on site.

Corrective action. Ensure that the Manager's name is posted in a prominent place within the facility.

A licensee must ensure that all indoor and outdoor play materials and equipment accessible to children are (b) safely constructed, free from hazards and in good repair.

Observation. During the inspection Licensing observed the protective membrane in the outdoor play area. Several areas were exposed next to the wooden climbing area and the slide. This could present a tripping hazard. This is a repeat contravention from inspections #CLAN-CKRQ2N, #CLAN-BMUNST.

Corrective action. Please ensure the outdoor play area is safely constructed and free from hazards.

A licensee must ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child.

Observation. Licensing observed rusty cans in the outdoor play area. Rust can present a potential health hazard.

Corrective action. Please ensure that the children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to their health and safety.

A licensee must display in a prominent place in the community care facility the certificate, or a copy of the certificate, of any educator or assistant employed to work in the community care facility.

Observation. Licensing observed that one of the staff certificates was not posted in the facility.

Corrective action. Please ensure all of the staff certificates are posted in a prominent place.

A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (a) name, sex, date of birth, medical insurance plan number and immunization status.

Observation. Licensing reviewed the children's records. One record was missing the child's immunization status. This is a repeat contravention from inspection #CLAN-CKRQ2N

Corrective action. Please ensure children's records are complete.

A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (f) evidence that the person has complied with the Province's immunization and tuberculosis control programs.

Observation. Immunization status was not obtained for one employee. This is a repeat contravention from inspection #CLAN-C6VTHC

Corrective action. Please ensure staff records are complete.

A licensee must ensure that all indoor and outdoor play materials and equipment accessible to children are (b) safely constructed, free from hazards and in good repair.

Observation. Licensing observed that the protective membrane in the outdoor play area was exposed. This was located next to a wooden climbing area. This could present a potential tripping hazard. This is a repeat contravention from inspection #CLAN-BMUNS7

Observation. During the inspection Licensing observed that 4 electrical outlet covers were missing on a power bar. This was within reach of the children

Observation. During the inspection rust was observed on the washroom stalls. Rust can present a potential health hazard. This is a repeat contravention from inspection #CLAN-BMUNS7 and inspection #CLAN- C6VTHC

Corrective action. Please ensure children do not have access to any objects or substances that may be hazardous to their health and safety.

A licensee must keep current records of each of the following: (c) a record respecting compliance with section 22 (2) (b) and (c) [emergency training and equipment].

Observation. Licensing reviewed the recorded of fire drills. A fire drill was not recorded for the month of October.

Corrective action. Please ensure fire drills are recorded on a monthly basis.

A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (a) name, sex, date of birth, medical insurance plan number and immunization status.

Observation. Four children's records of 19 children enrolled were reviewed. One child's record was missing their immunization status.

Observation. Licensing measured the water temperature of two washroom sinks. The temperature measured from the two sinks was 53.6 degrees Celsius and 53.7 degrees Celsius. This is a repeat contravention from inspection #KSEY-B9UQTQ and inspection #CLAN-BMUNS7

Corrective action. Please ensure hot water that is accessible to children is heated to no more that 49 degrees Celsius to comply with the legislation. Please provide active supervision in this area until this is corrected.

A licensee must: (b) have an emergency plan that sets out procedures to prepare for, mitigate, respond to and recover from any emergency.

Observation. Emergency supplies expired in February 2020.

Corrective action. Please ensure emergency supplies are current and food and water is replaced prior to the expiry date.

A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (i) a photograph or digital image of the child, and other information that can be used to readily identify the child in an emergency.

Observation. Five children's records were reviewed. One record was missing a photograph. This is a repeat contravention from inspection # CLAN-BMUNS7.

Corrective action. Please ensure children's records are complete

A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (d) copies of any diplomas, certificates or other evidence of the person's training and skills.

Observation. Copies of a one staff certificate or other evidence of the person's training and skills were not obtained.

Corrective action. Please ensure staff records are complete.

A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (f) evidence that the person has complied with the Province's immunization and tuberculosis control programs.

A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (a) a criminal record check for the person.

Observation. Criminal Record Check not obtained for one of the staff members.

Corrective action. Please ensure a criminal record check is obtained for all staff working at the facility

A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

Observation. The following was observed inside the facility: -a shelf over 4 feet tall was not anchored to the wall. -many items were located on high shelves. This could be a potential fire hazard or a falling hazard. -one electrical outlet cover was missing.

Corrective action. Please ensure a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times.

A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.

Observation. One of the chairs had a large crack and was being held together with duct tape.

Corrective action. Please ensure all furniture is in good repair

A licensee must ensure that all indoor and outdoor play materials and equipment accessible to children are (b) safely constructed, free from hazards and in good repair.

Observation. The following was observed in the outdoor play area: -rotting wood on the climber -the protective membrane was exposed. This could cause a potential tripping hazard

Corrective action. Please ensure the indoor and outdoor areas of the facility are safely constructed and free from hazards.

A licensee must ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child.

Observation. During the inspection the following was observed inside the facility: - rust on the washroom stalls. This could cause a potential health hazard. Please correct by March 19, 2020 -bleach and water sollution was placed on a low shelf within easy reach of the children

Corrective action. Please ensure children do not have access to any objects or substances that are hazardous to their health.

A licensee must ensure that any heated water accessible to children is heated to no more than 49° Celsius.

Observation. The temperature was measured for three sinks in the washroom. Two of the three sinks measured a temperature of 53 and 54.9 Degees Celsius. This is a repeat contravention from inspection # KSEY-B9UQTQ

Corrective action. Please ensure that the water accessible to children does not exceed 49 Degrees Celsius to comply with the legislation.

A licensee must keep current records of each of the following: (c) a record respecting compliance with section 22 (2) (b) and (c) [emergency training and equipment].

Observation. In discussion with the daycare staff they have completed an annual evacuation drill for the year. There was no documentation date for the emergency evacuation drill.

Corrective action. Please ensure when emergency drills are completed that this is documented.

Observation. Ten children's records of twenty-five were reviewed. Two children were missing a photo

Corrective action. Please ensure children's records are complete.

A licensee must keep, for each child requiring extra support, a current care plan showing the following information: (b) the courses of action recommended by health care professionals to address the needs of the child requiring extra support.

Observation. One child at the facility requires medication in an emergency. Upon review of the child's file, no care plan was observed.

Corrective action. Please ensure a care plan is created to ensure the health and safety of a child who requires medication in an emergency.
