    Observation. Licensing observed only one toilet in the washroom for infant and toddlers. There are 12 infants and toddlers in the room. When the facility was licensed a potty chair was accepted in place of a second toilet. The potty chair was not present.

    Corrective action. Please ensure to have one toilet for every 10 children. Two toilets are required for more than 10 children.

    Observation. Licensing observed the following in the facility: -Wasp chemical treatment was under the sink. A lock was present but was not applied. This was removed during the inspection. -Staff bags were observed on two shelves. These were within reach of the children's in care and could contain items that could potentially be hazardous to the children's health and safety.     Observation. Licensing observed the contents of the first aid kit. Items with a drug identification number (DIN) were present in the first aid kit. Permission for applying this medication is required prior to application.

    Observation. Licensing reviewed the children's records for one of the rooms for children 30 months to school age. Three children present were under 36 months. A maximum of two children under 36 months is permitted in one room as outlined in the legislation.

    Observation. Licensing observed the following during the inspection: -In one classroom staff bags and purses were within easy reach of the children. Locked cabinets have been provided to staff but these were not in use. This was not corrected by the date specified on the routine inspection. This is a repeat contravention from inspections #CLAN-BTYVSW and #CLAN-BJ5PNW. The Manager moved the bags and locked them in the cabinet during the inspection. -A chemical cleaner was observed under the sink in the washroom. A lock was present but not applied. This was removed during the inspection. -Several cans of shaving cream were in a low cabinet. A lock was present but not applied. -A cubby in the classroom was not secured. Two screws were observed behind the cubbies but these were not secured to the cubbies. This presents a potential tipping hazard. This was not corrected by the date specified on the routine inspection. This is a repeat contravention -Electrical outlets on a power bar did not have plug covers. This was not corrected by the date specified on the routine inspection. This is a repeat contravention. Upon entering a classroom Licensing observed a kettle that was open at the top and was boiling. The kettle appeared to be stuck on boil and was not shutting off automatically. No one was present in the classroom. The Manager turned off the kettle. The serious health and safety risk was discussed with the Manager.

    Observation. Licensing observed the following during the inspection: - in several classrooms staff purses were within easy reach of the children. Locked cabinets have been provided to the staff but some of the staff bags were in unlocked cabinets while others were at the children's level in the classroom. This is a repeat contravention from inspection # CLAN-BTYVSW and #CLAN-BJ5PNW -An ipad was proped against a narrow window ledge. Children were sitting in a circle directly below the ipad. -Several cords and two stereo cords were not secured. This is a repeat contravention from inspection # CLAN-BTYVSW and #CLAN-BJ5PNW -A cubby in the classroom was not secured. This could present a potential tipping hazard -Paint was under the sink -5 chairs were stacked over 4. 5 feet tall. This was observed int he infant room. The could present a potential falling hazard -multiple bottles of sunblock were on a low shelf. This was accessible to children. -A string of Christmas lights had a loose cord. This was within easy reach of the children -several electrical outlets were missing plug covers including a power bar with multiple outlets. This is a repeat contravention from inspection #CLAN-BJ5PNW.

    Observation. During the inspection licensing observed two children being changed by two teachers in the classroom. The children were changed out of their clothes and into a CEFA uniform. One child's bare chest was exposed to the children, teachers, the Manager and the Licensing Officer who were present in the room.

    Corrective action. Please ensure to change the children in the washroom to ensure you promote and preserve the child's privacy and dignity.

    Observation. During the inspection the following was observed inside the facility: -A toilet lid, covering the inside workings of the toilet, was broken. This was held together by sticky shelf liner paper. In discussion with the Manager she stated the lid broke this week and the facility is awaiting a replacement piece. -A small table had marks in it that may harbour bacteria. This was not corrected by the date listed on the routine inspection and therefore is a repeat contravention from inspection #CLAN-BTYVSW.

    Corrective action. Please ensure the furniture is easy to clean and free from hazards.

The following was observed in the outside play area: -Rust on two bolts in the play area and rust on fixtures on the stairs leading to the outdoor play area.     Observation. During the inspection licensing discussed the frequency of outdoor play with the staff in each classroom. In discussion with the staff they stated that the children do not participate in outdoor play time when it is raining.

    Observation. During the inspection licensing observed emergency medication for one of the children in a classroom. There was no information or instructions recorded in a care plan that gave direction on when the medication was needed or how it was to be administered. The serious risk to health to safety of the child in care was discussed.

    Corrective action. Please ensure a care plan is created that provides instructions on how and when to administer emergency medication.
