• POLICIES AND PROCEDURES

  A licensee must: (b) have an emergency plan that sets out procedures to prepare for, mitigate, respond to and recover from any emergency.

  Observation. Licensing observed that the fire extinguisher had a service date of 24/10/4. This is a repeat contravention on inspection report #: CGEE-CVZUUV - 25-Sep-2023

  Corrective action. Ensure that the fire extinguisher is serviced.

  Observation. The fire extinguishers required servicing in May/2023.

  Corrective action. Please obtain servicing for the fire extinguishers.

• RECORDS AND REPORTING

  The licensee must (b) review the care plan at least once each year with a parent of the child requiring extra support and any person requested by the parent.

  Observation. A child's care plan was last signed/dated by his parent on 08/Sep/2021.

  Corrective action. The licensee must review children's care plans annually w/ parents.

• STAFFING

  A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (a) a criminal record check for the person.

  Observation. A substitute employee lacked her CRC in her file.

  Corrective action. All requirements of s. 19(1) must be obtained for all employees.

• STAFFING

  A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (d) copies of any diplomas, certificates or other evidence of the person's training and skills.

  Observation. 2 support employees lacked evidence of their training.

  Corrective action. All requirements of s. 19(1) must be obtained for all employees.

• STAFFING

  A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility as (a) an educator or an assistant unless the person holds a certificate issued under Division 2 [Employee Qualifications], which must be verified by the system maintained by the early childhood educator registry. (Educator or assistant certificate validation) Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): 2 employees' ECE certificates hadn't been verified upon their last renewal.

• STAFFING

  A licensee must keep current records of each of the following: (b) for each employee, the records required under section 19 (1) [character and skill requirements].

  Observation. A substitute employee held an expired ECE certificate in her file.

  Corrective action. Current records for all employees must be obtained & kept @ the facility.

• EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS

  A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

  Observation. There is a tripping hazard where the grass meets the cement, on the northeast side of the outdoor play space (adjacent to the church).

  Corrective action. The outdoor play space must be free of tripping hazards.
