A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

Observation. The space under the gate in the outdoor play space (southeast corner) exceeds 3½".

Corrective action. Spaces (holes or openigs) must be < 3½" or > 9" to prevent entrapment.

A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (b) date of enrolment in the community care facility. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): A child's enrolment year is undocumented.

A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (a) a criminal record check for the person.

Observation. Four staff files reviewed, one staff's Criminal record check was not obtained

Corrective action. The Director said she will obtain the criminal record check for the staff. In the meantime, the Director said the staff missing CRC will be supervised by another staff while working with children.

A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.

Observation. -Outdoor wooden stairs: untreated splintered wood accessible to the children. - Washroom: rusted metal vent on the floor.

Corrective action. Ensure all equipment, furniture and fixture within the facility are clean and in good repair.
