  • RECORDS AND REPORTING

    A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (h) any special instruction respecting the child's diet, medication, participation in a program of activities, or other matter relevant to the child's care, (i) given by the child's parent to the licensee in writing.

    Observation. There is no parental consent re. using sunscreen & diaper cream.

    Corrective action. The manager explained she will complete a form for each child & ask their parent to sign it.

    A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (a) a criminal record check for the person.

    Observation. An employee's CRC is not onsite.

    Corrective action. The employee showed CCFL her CRC receipt from 19/Apr/2026 but does not have her results. The manager or licensee must obtain it for her file. In the meantime, this employee cannot work alone w/ children or assist w/ diapering or toileting.

    Observation. 2 employees lack evidence of their certificates being verified.

    Corrective action. Certificates must be verified upon hire & every renewal, followed by keeping a record of it in employees' files.

  • EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS

    A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

    Observation. Upon inspection, licensing observed a slide, in the outdoor play area, was placed close to two poles. There was no 6 feet radius around the play structure. (REMOVED DURING INSPECTION)

    Corrective action. The Manager said she will measure the space to ensure there is sufficient space around the play structure.

    Without limiting subsection (1), a licensee must ensure that (b) the ratio of employees to children attending a community care facility is no less than that permitted in Schedule E.

    Observation. During a conversation with the Manager confirmed for the last half an hour of the program, only ECE qualified staff present. Child Care Licensing Regulation requires Infant and Toddler qualified educator to be present during the whole operation hours.

    Corrective action. The Manager said she will talk to the General Supervisor to ensure the facility meets the staff to children ratio.

    A licensee must: (b) have an emergency plan that sets out procedures to prepare for, mitigate, respond to and recover from any emergency.

    Observation. Upon inspection, licensing observed the following: - Two fire extinguishers in the facility were not serviced annually. The arrows were pointing to the green zones.

    The licensee must not permit a person over the age of 12 to be ordinarily present on the premises of a community care facility while children are present, unless the person is of good character and the licensee has obtained a criminal record check for that person.

    Observation. Criminal record checks for persons over the age of 12 who are ordinarily present are not available.

    Corrective action. The Manager said she will obtain criminal record checks for the residents. The Manager said the residents do not have access to the day care area.
