- EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.
Observation. Licensing observed the following: - The surface of the soft climbing cushions used inside the playroom were peeling off - The nail that holds the artificial grass behind the wooden playhouse was rusted and sticking out, causing the edge of the artificial grass to curled up.
Corrective action. Staff will inform the manager to have that area fixed. In the meantime, staff will push the nail down to ensure that the rusted nail is not exposed and the grass is not curled up.
11020 - CCLR s.13(2) - EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child.
Observation. A pair of adult scissors was kept in a drawer and the child safety lock was available but not applied.
Corrective action. Staff will ensure that hazardous items are out of reach from children, or to keep the drawer locked when not in use.
11200 - CCLR s.17 - EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.
Observation. Licensing observed the following: - Only sanitization bottles were observed in the bathroom and play area. Soap bottles for both areas were not observed. - Fridge temperature is higher than 4 degrees Celsius - Some of the toys available for the children were not age appropriate
Corrective action. Staff will inform the manager to ensure soap bottles are available for both bathroom and play area. Staff will also adjust the fridge temperature to ensure that it is between 0 - 4 degrees Celsius

A licensee must: (b) have an emergency plan that sets out procedures to prepare for, mitigate, respond to and recover from any emergency.
Observation. Fire extinguisher was not serviced annually. The month written on the tag was unclear.
Corrective action. Staff will inform the manager to have it serviced immediately.

Observation. 8 children's files were reviewed. Parents were listed as emergency contact for 3 children files.
Corrective action. The Manager said she will obtain alternative contacts from parents to list as children's emergency contact.

A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.
Observation. A climber was observed in the indoor play area. This was placed over laminate flooring.
Corrective action. Please ensure resilient surfacing is placed underneath and around any climbing equipment and that there is a 6 foot fall radius surrounding the equipment.
11010 - CCLR s.13(1) - EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child.
Observation. During the inspection the following was observed in the indoor area of the facility: -A staff purse was within easy reach of the children. This could present a potential hazard. This was corrected during the inspection. -A container of disinfectant wipes and a basket of sunblock and diaper cream was located in an unlocked cabinet. -An open garbage can with plastic bags inside During the inspection the following was observed in the outdoor area of the facility: -Rusty nails in the brickwork. This is a repeat contravention from inspection #CLAN-CCZTRU and #CLAN-B9TRAB and # CLAN-BYXRZB. Please provide active supervision in this area until this item is corrected.
Corrective action. Please ensure children do not have access to any objects or substances that may be hazardous to their health and safety.
11200 - CCLR s.17 - RECORDS AND REPORTING
A licensee must keep, for each child requiring extra support, a current care plan showing the following information: (b) the courses of action recommended by health care professionals to address the needs of the child requiring extra support.
Observation. A care plan lists the expiry date of the medication required in an emergency as December 2022 . The medication is expired.
Corrective action. Please ensure the care plan and medication required for the care plan is current to ensure the health and safety of the child in care.
19220 - CCLR s.58(1)(b) - RECORDS AND REPORTING
The licensee must (b) review the care plan at least once each year with a parent of the child requiring extra support and any person requested by the parent.
Observation. Licensing observed there was no date recorded on a child's care plan. In reviewing registration records the child has attended the facility since December 2021. The care plan was not reviewed annually with the parent or any person requested to by the parent.
Corrective action. Please ensure the care plan is reviewed annually.

- EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.
Observation. The following was observed at the inspection: -A shelf had several wear marks and the laminate was worn off in places and particle board was showing. This could make the shelf difficult to clean and disinfect.
Corrective action. Please ensure the furniture is in good repair.
11020 - CCLR s.13(2) - EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child.
Observation. During the inspection the following was observed inside the facility: -an electrical outlet close to where the children were playing was uncovered. This was corrected during the inspection. -a basket filled with rubbing alcohol, disinfecting wipes and sanitizer was on the top of the cubbies. If a child were to step on the cubbies they would have direct access to these chemicals.This was removed during the inspection. Access to disinfectants is a repeat contravention from inspections #CLAN-BLWR3H and #CLAN-B9TRAB. -a basket filled with several containers of diaper cream was located on the counter. This was within easy reach of the children. The following was observed outside the facility in the outdoor play area: -a rusty nail and two rusty brackets were observed at the children's level. Rust can cause a potential health hazard. Please provide active supervision in this area until this is corrected. Rusty nails in the play area are a repeat contravention from inspections #CLAN-B9TRAB and #CLAN-BYXRZB.
Corrective action. Please ensure children do not have access to any objects or substances that are hazardous to their health and safety.

Observation. During the inspection the staff record was reviewed. The record was missing a record of immunization status. This was corrected during the inspection.

A lock was noted on the cupboard but it was not in use. This was corrected during the inspection. -a container with disinfectant wipes was on the counter within easy reach of the children. This could cause a potential poisoning hazard. This was corrected during the inspection. Licensing observed the following in the outdoor play area: -rust was noted on the table and on two bicycles. This could present a health hazard. Licensing and the Licensee discussed recommendations for covering the rust.
Corrective action. Please ensure children do not have access to any objects or substances that are hazardous to their health.
11200 - CCLR s.17 - STAFFING
The licensee must not permit a person over the age of 12 to be ordinarily present on the premises of a community care facility while children are present, unless the person is of good character and the licensee has obtained a criminal record check for that person.
Observation. During the inspection the Licensee's family member was present. In discussion with the Licensee she stated that the family member's Criminal record check (CRC) had expired. The serious health and safety risk to children was discussed.
Corrective action. Please ensure anyone in the home over 12 years has a current CRC.
12160 - CCLR s.20(1) - STAFFING
A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility as (a) an educator or an assistant unless the person holds a certificate issued under Division 2 [Employee Qualifications], which must be verified by the licensee using a system established and maintained by the director of the early childhood educator registry,
Observation. Licensing observed that there were no verifications for the two staff certificates. This is a repeat contravention from inspection # CLAN-B9TRAB
Corrective action. Please ensure staff certificates are verified using the the system established by the ECE registry and keep the documentation in the staff records.
