Observation. Upon inspection of registration forms, a child with an indicated medical condition did not have a care plan. The Manager was unable to verbally explain steps on how to respond to the child.
Corrective action. The Manager explained that she will follow up with the child's parents.

Observation. Licensing observed the following; - Blind cords that are at an accessible level to children - Uncoiled garden hose - Re-using cloth towels used for hand drying. Education was provided on an alternative method for hand-drying.

If a licensee has agreed with a parent to give a child any medication prescribed by a medical practitioner or provided by the parent, the licensee and his or her employees must ensure that the medication is (a) administered to the child in the amount and at the times specified by the child's parent or in the child's record or care plan.
Observation. There was no record of medication given to a child and no written directions specified by the parent regarding the administration of medication. The manager stated that a verbal conversation did occur.
Corrective action. Please ensure there is written document if a licensee has agreed to give a child any medication prescribed by a medical practitioner or provided by the parent.

A licensee must keep, for each child requiring extra support, a current care plan showing the following information: (a) the diagnoses relevant to the child's requirement for extra support, as made by health care professionals.
Observation. During the follow-up inspection 7 children's files were reviewed and one child who was allergic to peanuts required a care plan, however a care plan was not available. Anaphylaxis care plan was shared with the licensee and education was provided regarding care plans being reviewed annually.
Corrective action. Please ensure all children requiring extra support have a care plan on site.
