- EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child.
Observation. Licensing observed diaper creams were stored at children's level and accessible to children.
Corrective action. The Staff said she will store diaper creams out of children's reach.
11200 - CCLR s.17 - EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.
Observation. Upon inspection, licensing observed 5 children's chair were stacked together. It poses a potential hazard if chairs fall on children.
Corrective action. The Staff said she will ensure children's chair not stacked too high.
11010 - CCLR s.13(1) - LICENSING
A licensee must display in a prominent place in the community care facility the certificate, or a copy of the certificate, of any educator or assistant employed to work in the community care facility.
Observation. One staff's current certificate was not posted.
Corrective action. The Staff said she will post the certificate.
10070 - CCLR s.11(4) - POLICIES AND PROCEDURES
A licensee must: (b) have an emergency plan that sets out procedures to prepare for, mitigate, respond to and recover from any emergency.
Observation. Upon inspection, licensing observed the second emergency exit door was locked. Not accessible to the staff and children in the case of emergency evacuation.
Corrective action. The Staff said she will ensure the second emergency exit door is unlocked at all time during operation hours.
13020 - CCLR s.22(1)(b) - POLICIES AND PROCEDURES
A licensee must keep current records of each of the following: (c) a record respecting compliance with section 22 (2) (b) and (c) [emergency training and equipment].
Observation. Upon discussion with the Staff, an emergency drill was practiced but was not recorded down.
Corrective action. The Staff said she will ensure to record down when drill is practiced.
13050 - CCLR s.56(1)(c) - RECORDS AND REPORTING
A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (d) name and telephone number of a parent, medical practitioner and emergency contact.
Observation. 6 children's files were reviewed, 3 children missing emergency contact
Corrective action. The Staff said she will obtain emergency contact from the parents.
19100 - CCLR s.57(2)(d) - STAFFING
A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility as (a) an educator or an assistant unless the person holds a certificate issued under Division 2 [Employee Qualifications], which must be verified by the system maintained by the early childhood educator registry. (Educator or assistant certificate validation)
Observation. Two staff files were reviewed, one staff's certificate was not validated by using the system maintained by the early childhood educator registry.
Corrective action. The Staff said she will ask the Director to validate the certificate.
12140 - CCLR s.19(4)(a) - STAFFING
A licensee must keep current records of each of the following: (b) for each employee, the records required under section 19 (1) [character and skill requirements].
Observation. Staff files were reviewed, a staff file was missing. The staff said the facility Director has the file at different location.[Repeat contravention to routine report #JKIM-D73Q5L]
Corrective action. The Staff said she will ask the Director to have the staff's file on-site.
12430 - CCLR s.56(1)(b) - STAFFING
Despite the employee qualifications required by Column 4 of the table in section 1 of Schedule E [group sizes and employee to children ratios], a licensee must replace an absent employee described in Column 1 of the following table who is absent (b) for 30 consecutive days or more with a person described in Column 3 opposite that employee and the row in Column 2 labelled as "≥ 30 days".
Observation. Upon discussion with the Staff, facility Manager has been away for more than 30 consecutive days. Unknown return date.
Corrective action. The Staff said she will communicate with the Director to be in compliance with the regulation.

Observation. LO observed and discussed the following with staff on site: - bleach spray bottle placed on the washroom's sink; accessible to the children - blinds cords ( in the nap room) was accessible to the children

11010 - CCLR s.13(1) - HYGIENE AND COMMUNICABLE DISEASE
A licensee must establish a program to instruct children in, and to practise the rules of, health and hygiene.
Observation. Children are not using single use towels to dry their hands after hand hygiene. Each child is designated 1 towel per day.
Corrective action. Ensure that single use cotton towels or disposable paper towels are available for children to dry their hands after hand washing.
15030 - CCLR s.46(1) - MEDICATION
A licensee must ensure that a child's medication is not accessible to any child, except that a child may have access to his or her own medication if (a) the child's parent has instructed the licensee to permit this.
Observation. Medication stored in a child's cubbie was accessible to the children.
Corrective action. Ensure that a child's medication is not accessible to any child, while children are in care.
16030 - CCLR s.53(2)(a) - RECORDS AND REPORTING
The licensee must (a) develop the care plan in consultation with a parent of the child requiring extra support and any person requested by the parent.
Observation. No care plan was developed for a child requiring extra support.
Corrective action. Ensure that a care plan is developed in consultation with a parent for the child requiring extra support.
