    Observation. Licensing reviewed 6 children's files and one child's file was missing the gender.

  • EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS

    A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

    Observation. During the routine inspection licensing observed that some blackberry vines were coming down from the fence above and hanging into the playground. Some of the blackberry vines were observed to have sharp prickles on them. The vines were hanging down the cement wall and were easily accessible to children. No children were observed touching the blackberry vines. This is a repeat contravention from 2023.

    Corrective action. Manager said that they will inform owner about the blackberry vines and they will be trimmed down.

    A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility as (a) an educator or an assistant unless the person holds a certificate issued under Division 2 [Employee Qualifications], which must be verified by the system maintained by the early childhood educator registry.     Observation. During the routine inspection licensing reviewed 5 staff files and one staff file was missing a validation of they ECE A certificate.

    Corrective action. Please ensure that all staff files are complete.

    Observation. During the routine inspection it was noted that some blackberry vines were coming down in the playground from the above fence. Some of the vines has sharp prickles and were easily accessible by children. Manager said that they will cut the vines after licensing departed.

    A licensee must: (b) have an emergency plan that sets out procedures to prepare for, mitigate, respond to and recover from any emergency.

    Observation. During the routine inspection the following were observed regarding the emergency supplies: - on the supplies list the apple sauce in the emergency kit expired February 04, 2023. - on top of the two bins containing the emergency supplies there was a large hose spreading across both bins, a rubber toy cow and two plastic buckets preventing easy access to the kits.

    Corrective action. Please ensure that the emergency supplies are easily accessible to prepare for, mitigate, respond to and recover from any emergency.
