A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (b) date of enrolment in the community care facility. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Licensing reviewed 7 children's files and two were missing a date of enrollment. This is a repeat contravention from 2024.
Corrective action. Staff added enrollment date while licensing was conducting the inspection.

A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (c) daily attendance record, indicating for each day whether the child is absent or, if the child is present, the time of arrival and departure.
Observation. One child was not signed in, in one of the classrooms.
Corrective action. Ensure all children are signed in and out.

Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Licensing observed that the manager's name was not on display. This was corrected during inspection by staff assisting licensing during inspection.
Corrective action. Staff assisting licensing during inspection corrected the contravention.

Corrective action. Ensure all children's files are complete.
19080 - CCLR s.57(2)(b) - RECORDS AND REPORTING
A licensee must keep, for each child requiring extra support, a current care plan showing the following information: (a) the diagnoses relevant to the child's requirement for extra support, as made by health care professionals.
Observation. During the routine inspection licensing observed that one child who had a peanut allergy and had an EPI pen did not have a care plan on site.
Corrective action. Manager showed licensing a blank anaphylaxis plan and said that the plan will be reviewed with the parents.

A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (b) character references in respect of the person.
Observation. Licensing reviewed 8 staff files and it was observed that two staff files were missing a minimum of two character references.
Corrective action. Ensure all staff files are complete.

- EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.
Observation. Doors to electrical room, laundry room, storage closet and cupboards in the toddler room, CC room and JK room were left unlocked.
Corrective action. Ensure that doors to various rooms are shut tight so that they lock after each use. And ensure that cupboards either have locks or the hazardous items are removed from the cupboards.

A licensee must: (b) have an emergency plan that sets out procedures to prepare for, mitigate, respond to and recover from any emergency.
Observation. Fire Extinguisher has not been serviced annually.
Corrective action. Please ensure that fire extinguisher is serviced annually and there is system in place to get it serviced before its service due date.

Observation. A criminal record was not obtained for one of the employees.
Corrective action. Ensure to obtain a criminal record for the staff before the employment starts.

A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility as (a) an educator or an assistant unless the person holds a certificate issued under Division 2 [Employee Qualifications], which must be verified by the system maintained by the early childhood educator registry. (Educator or assistant certificate validation)
Observation. Out of 7 staff files checked one employee's educator certification validation had expired.
Corrective action. Ensure that educator certification has been verified and is current.

- EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.
Observation. Door of the nap area removed in Classroom # 1 in order to utilize this space for GCC ( 30 mos-school-age ) In doing so metal holes exists where the hinges were attached and a door stopper is secured to the floor.
Corrective action. please ensure facility is maintained in good repair in order to reduce risk of injury to children.

A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.
Observation. Observed a monitor plugged in with a cord located on the floor of the Toddler nap area , it was stated that once asleep staff may exit the area , some children nap on cots may have accessibility to the cord. Diaper changing pad stored on the floor behind the garbage can , removed to a cabinet during the inspection.
Corrective action. please ensure a healthy and safe environment is provided to children
