  • EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS

    A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

    Observation. Licensing observed: -One change pad was visibly soiled and did not appear to have been cleaned after use -Cleaner for the bathroom change pad was not available in one of the classrooms -Cutlery was stored in a drawer where art and office supplies were also stored. -Some of the spoons in the GCC(30m-SAC) room were stained and damaged

    Corrective action. The licensee will consider and provide a written response to licensing

  • EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS

    A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.

    Observation. Licensing observed: -Some wall damage in all classrooms, and the outdoor area where paint and drywall had chipped away. -Damage to the change table in the baby room being held by tape, which made it difficult to sanitize effectively. -Damage to the tables and chairs in the Baby classroom, and the two GCC(30m-SAC) where it was exposing porous material, making it difficult to sanitize effectively. -Indoor climber located in the baby room was cracked and exposed porous materials making it difficult to sanitize. -Toilet paper roll holder was broken from the wall, and no toilet paper was available to children. -Bottom of bathroom cabinets were peeling in 3 bathrooms.

    Corrective action. License said they will be ordering new materials, and making repairs. Licensee will provide a plan for correction.

  • LICENSING

    A licensee must display in a prominent place in the community care facility the certificate, or a copy of the certificate, of any educator or assistant employed to work in the community care facility.

    Observation. Of seven employees working, one had not posted their Certificate at the facility. The licensee said the staff was new, and had not yet done so.

    Corrective action. Licensee said they will post the certification, and provide a written response

  • MEDICATION

    If a licensee has agreed with a parent to give a child any medication prescribed by a medical practitioner or provided by the parent, the licensee and his or her employees must ensure that the medication is (a) administered to the child in the amount and at the times specified by the child's parent or in the child's record or care plan.

    Observation. Licensing reviewed the medication consent form for 4 children, of those 1 child had no medical consent form for emergency medication stored at the facility.

    Corrective action. The licensee said they will contact the parent today and have them fill out the form.

  • OR SUPERVISION

    Without limiting subsection (1), a licensee must ensure that (b) the ratio of employees to children attending a community care facility is no less than that permitted in Schedule E. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): At licensing arrival the GCC(30m-SAC) Baby classroom had 9 children signed in with one IT staff and 1 ECEA. In the GCC(30m-SAC) Toddler classroom there were 9 children and 1 ECE and 1 ECEA, more children arrived prior to a third staff arriving for both classrooms. The licensee said there was an unexpected staff absence, and the additional staff person took longer than expected to arrive at the facility.

    Corrective action. The licensee corrected this during the inspection, and will consider and provide a staffing plan.

    The licensee must (b) review the care plan at least once each year with a parent of the child requiring extra support and any person requested by the parent.

    Observation. Licensing reviewed 4 care plans, of those one care plan had not been reviewed since 2023.

    Corrective action. The licensee said they will review the care plan and provide a written response.

    A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (d) name and telephone number of a parent, medical practitioner and emergency contact.

    Observation. Licensing reviewed children's files for 20 children, of those 4 had no documentation of emergency contact person.

    Corrective action. Licensee said some of the parents had no emergency contacts available, however some were the same as the authorized to pick up however these had not been documented.

    Observation. In classroom 4, the trim at the bottom of the wall near cubbies was not attached, exposing a hole.

    Corrective action. Licensee will provide a plan to address this on or before August 1,st 2024.

    A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

    Observation. During inspection licensing observed: -A potty seat was stored in bathroom which was visibly soiled -Children did not have access to one use hand towels in the PK 1 bathroom after hand washing -Blind cords were hanging accessible to children who were in the PK 1, and 3-4 classroom, providing risk of entanglement or chocking.

    Corrective action. Please ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while the children are under the supervision of employees.

    Observation. During inspection children were signed in to one classroom and had been moved to another classroom, and staff became confused as to how many children were in each room while children were in care.
