  A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (c) daily attendance record, indicating for each day whether the child is absent or, if the child is present, the time of arrival and departure.

  Observation. Licensing reviewed the attendance records and noted that on a few days in September and October times of departure were missing.

  Corrective action. Ensure departure times are recorded.

• STAFFING

  A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility as (a) an educator or an assistant unless the person holds a certificate issued under Division 2 [Employee Qualifications], which must be verified by the system maintained by the early childhood educator registry. (Educator or assistant certificate validation)

  Observation. During the routine inspection 3 staff files were reviewed and one staff file was missing a validation of an ECEA certificate.

  Corrective action. Please ensure all staff files are completed.

• EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS

  A licensee must ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child.

  Observation. During the inspection licensing observed: -an electrical plug outlet in two areas of the facility were uncovered. Licensee corrected this at the time of the inspection. -Blind cords in the quiet and circle room that were secured, however they have loosened over time providing access for children to become entangled. Licensee said they will have the school maintenance fix the issue.

  Corrective action. Please ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health and safety of a child.

• POLICIES AND PROCEDURES

  A licensee must keep current records of each of the following: (c) a record respecting compliance with section 22 (2) (b) and (c) [emergency training and equipment].

  Observation. Licensing observed that a fire drill was not recorded for the month of October. The Manager indicated that the fire drill had been conducted but not recorded.

  Corrective action. Ensure a record of implementation of fire drill system at least once each month is kept.

  A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (b) date of enrolment in the community care facility. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Upon an inspection of 6 children's files, it was noted that two were missing enrollment dates.

  Corrective action. Ensure that children's records are complete.

  Observation. One staff certificate did not have evidence of verification.

  Corrective action. Ensure that staff certificates are verified using a system established and maintained by the director of the early childhood educator registry.
