A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (a) a criminal record check for the person.
Observation. Criminal Record Check on file is not site specific. Licensing observed a RCMP CRC. Licensee showed application for CRC but no CRC letter for one staff.
Corrective action. Licensee will call CRRP and request the CRC for staff.

Observation. Licensing reviewed the practicum student's file, who was on site on practicum, and observed that a minimum of two character references were not obtained for them.
Corrective action. Ensure practicum student's file is complete.
