    A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

    Observation. During this inspection, Licensing observed the following: -a tall shelf in the nap room is not secured -an unlocked bathroom cupboard contained cleaning materials accessible to children -a tool cabinet is unlocked which contained bleach, detergent, and other hazardous materials accessible to children -a big pair of scissors stored in a drawer accessible to children -prickly plants are present in the outdoor play spaces

    Corrective action. Please ensure a healthy and safe environment at all times.

    Observation. The program is approved for the capacity of 12 children. One toilet has been broken for some time and yet to be fixed.

    Corrective action. Ensure two toilets are in working order at all times.

    Observation. The Outdoor play area has a slide structure that does not have enough resilient surfacing at the base to protect children using the equipment. Several prickles bushes also accessible to the children outdoors poses a risk.

    Corrective action. Ensure the outdoor play area material and equipment are in good repair.

  • EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS

    A licensee must ensure that the entire outdoor play area is (a) enclosed in a manner that is suitable for the age and development of children, and will ensure that children are free of harm.

    Observation. Two fence panels in the back yard are damaged and pose a risk to the children playing in the area. A rake was also accessible at the time of the inspection in an area where children play additionally posing a risk to the children. The LO reviewed these items with both the staff and Manager on the day of the inspection.

    Corrective action. Ensure the entire outdoor play area is enclosed and that the children are free from harm.

    A licensee must establish a program to instruct children in, and to practise the rules of, health and hygiene. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): One child's food items were observed to be stored improperly posing a risk to the child. The LO reviewed this item with the staff during the inspection who corrected it right away.

    Corrective action. Ensure the program establishes a healthy and hygienic service with regards to food service.
