Observation. Some staff files are incomplete. Items missing include: evidence of having complied with the Province's immunization programs, evidence of training, and character references. Incomplete staff files reduce transparency and weaken oversight which can put children at risk. Submit to licensing by May 8, 2026, evidence the missing items are in the staff files. Additionally, submit a plan that outlines how the staff files will be maintained to ensure the required documents are collected and kept current.

Observation. A child's medication is stored in a unlocked cupboard which is accessible to children. Medication that is not securely stored poses a risk to children's health and safety. The contravention was cleared during inspection.

Observation. The wooden stairs at the back of the facility are in poor repair, one of the stair treads is broken. The wooden back stairs pose a serious tripping and falling hazard. Submit to licensing by May 8, 2026, evidence the stairs have been repaired and are safe for children.

Observation. The licensing officer observed a new toy shed has been installed in the outdoor play space. Licensing must be notified of changes made to the site plan. Changes to the site plan may impact the overall useable space or affect the safety of children. Submit to licensing by the requested follow up date, an updated site plan that shows the dimensions and location of the new toy shed.

Observation. The Child Care Licensing Regulation requires that staff criminal record clearances are obtained through the Criminal Record Review Program. The licensing officer observed two staff criminal record clearances were obtained through the RCMP. The requirement was discussed and reviewed with the manager during the inspection. Submit to licensing by the requested follow up date, confirmation the two staff have criminal record clearances have been obtained through the Criminal Record Review Program.

Observation. The licensing officer observed that some nails are lifting on the wooden stair treads on stairs children use to access the outdoor play space. This poses a risk of the stairs treads not being secure. Submit to licensing by the requested follow up date, how this issue has been addressed, and the systems you will implement to ensure ongoing maintenance is conducted at the facility. The licensing officer observed a gym mat located in classroom C was torn, exposing inner foam material. The inner foam material is not able to be sanitized which poses a risk to the health of the children. Submit to licensing by the requested follow up date, how you have resolved this issue. Additionally submit the system you will implement to ensure the equipment used by the children at the facility is in good repair.
