Observation. - In one of the outside play spaces, the Licensing Officer observed a torn sandbox cover. *The manager provided the staff with a brand new cover for the sandbox during the inspection - Resolved.
- C3.1 - Does the facility have sufficient employees who possess adequate training and experience to meet the care, supervision, and needs of the children?Non-critical
Observation. - During the inspection, the Licensing Officer reviewed a sample of employee files. One staff file was missing evidence of more than one character reference check. *Resolved during the inspection.
- C4.1 - Are facility records current and complete?Non-critical
Observation. - During the inspection, the Licensing Officer reviewed a sample of child records, including registration forms and emergency cards. Some child photos on the emergency cards were not current and some features, such as eye colour, could not be readily identified. Other record keeping systems in place, such as the daily attendance records, play space inspection log, and the system for recording minor incidents were reviewed by the Licensing Officer and they appeared satisfactory. In addition, the Licensing Officer and the manager discussed some options that may improve the system for recording the daily outside play space inspections to ensure that the staff know what they need to be specifically inspecting everyday, every week, every month, etc.

Observation. - During the inspection, the Licensing Officer observed some of the wall baseboards fully or partially removed in various rooms due to some flooding that occurred in the facility in October 2024. These baseboards need to be replaced and/or repaired to prevent the children from potentially accessing the exposed drywall. *Correction date for this contravention is: March 31, 2025. - The Licensing Officer observed a hanging cord attached to a nap time camera on the wall in one of the toddler sleeping/gross motor rooms that was accessible to the children in care. *Correction date: January 29, 2025. - The Licensing Officer observed the edge of one of the bathroom counters used by the children in care was in need of repair. * Correction date: January 24, 2025.

Observation. - The Licensing Officer observed a small climber with a blue slide in the Group Child Care (Under 36 Months) outside play space requiring repair, replacing, or removal.
- C2.1 - Are written policies and procedures in place to guide employees in all matters regarding the care and supervision of children?Non-critical
Observation. - Ensure that a system is in place for recording the annual practice of the large scale evacuation plan. Fire drills were practiced, displayed, and recorded monthly as required.
- C3.1 - Does the facility have sufficient employees who possess adequate training and experience to meet the care, supervision, and needs of the children?Non-critical
Observation. - Some staff files were missing required documents such as immunization status and a "shared" criminal record check results letter addressed to the Licensee.

Observation. - Some child emergency cards were missing required information such as the child's medical number. Ensure that child emergency cards are complete with pertinent medical information for staff to readily access if/when caring for the children off site. Other record keeping methods were reviewed by the Licensing Officer (i.e. minor incident logs, play space inspection logs, attendance records, etc.) and they appeared satisfactory.

Observation. - The Licensing Officer observed hazardous products such as sun screen and air freshener spray bottles accessible to the children in care. - Ensure that generic cleaning spray bottles are clearly labelled with its contents. - The Licensing Officer observed a container with soiled items, without the lid secured, in one of the program washrooms. - Ensure that there is a 6ft clearance around any climbing equipment, slides, etc. to provide space for the children to safely exit and enter the equipment. This clearance is also to provide a safe fall zone area around the equipment.
