Maintenance of Equipment: A log is kept of all inspections, maintenance and repairs. [Director of Licensing Standard of Practice - Safe Play Space]

Observation. It appears the staff are checking the yard on a daily basis, but a maintenance equipment log is not kept. Licensing spoke to the manager and staff how the fibar had receded around the climber from the original level and due to having wood logs around the perimeter, which also deteriorate over time, the maintenance equipment log can be used as a document to note as there are changes to these materials, to name a few. It was suggested that staff are able to rake fibar to areas where it has been pushed away by children ensuring enough resilient ground cover if they were to fall and to watch the logs for splinters. Licensing explained how the maintenance log would be used to note that the fibar was receding and a resource for management or staff who are responsible in the maintenance of the space, in order to have it replaced to levels documented in the DOLSP-Safe Play Space for a climbing frame.
