Implementation of the fire drill system is practiced at least once each month, and implementation of the emergency plan is practiced at least once each year. [CCLR Sec. 22(2)(b)(c)]
Observation. Reviewed the emergency drill record. The program has not yet conducted a fire drill for this school year (missed September and October 2024). The same issue came up during last year's routine in November 2023. Reviewed the requirement for monthly fire drills with staff and Manager. Monthly fire drills must be conducted and recorded. Emergency drills are to be completed at least once a year (people typically interpret this as an earthquake drill). Manager stated he will follow up with staff. Staff committed to completed the required drills.

- PROGRAM / Program of activitiesNon-critical
Children are provided with a comprehensive and coordinated program of indoor and outdoor activities that is designed for the development and care of the children, and is appropriate for the age and development of the children. [CCLR Sec. 44(1)(a)(b)(c) and Schedule(G)]
Observation. Today the children were told they could participate in a Talent show next week. They were given a notice to take home to families and think about what talent they might like to share - art, magic, building, singing, dancing, playing an instrument. Children were encouraged to pick something they were comfortable with and to ask if they had any questions. Staff said every session starts with snack, gathering, announcements, attendance and then breaking into the two groups. Today both groups were offered art and craft activities. The older children played a game of bean bag toss. Staff decided they would not go out today as it was breezy and drizzling. The children appeared comfortable with remaining indoors. Staff switch between the two groups so each has an opportunity to build relationships with both groups. Both staff agreed the older group would benefit from board games and puzzles appropriate to their age group. Shared this with the Manager, principal. He committed to following up on this and suggested the children may have ideas of what games and puzzles to purchase.
- STAFFING / Additional criminal record checksNon-critical
All persons over the age of 12 that are ordinarily present on the premises while children are present are of good character and the licensee has obtained a criminal record check for each person. [CCLR Sec 20]
Observation. All staff have up to date criminal record clearances. Observed a volunteer from a nearby high school. Manager confirmed that the volunteer was older than 12 years and did not have a criminal record check. Reviewed the requirement with staff and Manager that all persons aged 12 and over were to have a criminal record check.
- STAFFING / Emergency Training and EquipmentNon-critical

Each drill must be recorded. Informed staff that the Manager had a VCH template to record practice drills.
