    The facility, the furniture, equipment, fixtures and supplies are of sturdy and safe construction.  They are easy to clean, and are clean and in good repair and free from hazards. [CCLR Sec. 13(2) and Sec. 15(1)(a)]

    Observation. The Licensee indicated that surfaces are currently disinfected only. Licensing discussed the previously provided resource outlining the two-step cleaning method, cleaning with soap and water followed by disinfecting, including those used for play and eating. Licensing will reshare the VCH resource. Licensing observed visible debris on several areas of the facility. A discussion occurred with the Manager regarding the areas identified.

    Observation. The log book is not currently being used. A discussion occurred regarding the types of entries that should be documented. Resources on logging requirements had previously been provided to the Licensee, and Licensing will reshare the VCH resource.

    Observation. There were no single use towels available to dry hands in the washroom.

    Furniture or equipment for sleeping is used by only one child at a time, is clean and comfortable, and is appropriate for the size, age and development of the children intended to use it. [CCLR Sec. 15(2)]

    Observation. In the nap room, there is one crib. The sheet was visibly dirty and also was wet due to the child having their bottle for nap time in the crib. Two mats with sheets and a blanket were propped up against each other with the bedding touching.

    Observation. In the washroom there were Lysol wipes accessible to children. There was an open pot of cream on the shelf accessible to children. In a child accessible cupboard in the kitchen there appeared to be a bottle of cleaning solution.

    Not free from hazards.

    Observation. In the area designated for outdoor play, there is a flight of stairs that leads to an upper level of the house. The bottom of the stairs has a gate, and the gaps between stairs have been covered. Along the sides of the stairs, however, there are gaps between the railing and the stairs that could create a head entrapment. Some possible solutions were discussed.
