  The facility, the furniture, equipment, fixtures and supplies are of sturdy and safe construction.  They are easy to clean, and are clean and in good repair and free from hazards. [CCLR Sec. 13(2) and Sec. 15(1)(a)]

  Observation. Licensing observed the following: *the play oven with no oven door handle, exposing a broken screw with sharp edge. *the window screen in the outdoor space appeared to be damaged and torn. This item is no longer in good repair and is easy to clean.

  Hazardous objects and substances are inaccessible to children. [CCLR Sec 17]

  Observation. Licensing observed several adult scissors and a bag of marbles being stored in the unlocked drawers. Educators explained that they are unable to lock the drawers because it does not release a key once locked. A discussion took place regarding fixing the drawers to ensure its functionality or removing the hazardous objects to keep them out of reach of children.

  For each child requiring extra support, the licensee keeps a current care plan showing the required information. [CCLR Sec. 58(1)(2)]

  Observation. Licensing observed a care plan with the wrong medication expiry date (i.e. inhaler).

  Observation. On May 17 2024, Licensing observed that the push bar on one of the means of exiting the facility frequently sticks and the door will not open - This item has been addressed. During today's visit, Licensing observed a broken window in the quiet area/parent room - this could pose as a safety hazard and is no longer in good repair and free from hazard.

  Behavioural guidance is appropriate to the age and development of each child. [CCLR Sec.51(1)(a)]

  Observation. During the inspection Licensing observed a staff physically re-direct children on more then one occasion without advanced notice or talking to the child. For example a staff grabbed a child wrists , held a child by the shoulders and held the back of a child's shirt.

  Observation. Licensing observed the following: * the white stools in the washroom appeared dirty and in need of cleaning * the material on the black leather couch was cracked and pealing * the red and white play kitchen is no longer secured to the wall * the cord for the twinkle lights needs to be secured

  All indoor and outdoor play materials and equipment accessible to children are suitable for the age and development of the children, safely constructed, free from hazards and in good repair. [CCLR Sec. 16(4)]

  Observation. Licensing observed the following in the outdoor play area: * the white rectangle planter has broken nails sticking out * the planting box along the fence has nails sticking out * the pallets has nails sticking out * the blue bike has a wheel missing * the tree stump in the sand area does not have a 6 foot clearance. Licensing recommends cutting the tree stump into loose parts

  Observation. Licensing observed that inspections were not conducted regularly of the outdoor play space.
