    Observation. Licensing observed under the outside deck, a storage unit's lid broken and presenting as a possible source of injury due to the exposed edges and the unit being accessible to children. The Owner/Manager informed that it will be addressed.

    There is an emergency plan that sets out procedures to prepare for, mitigate, respond to and recover from any emergency. [CCLR Sec. 22(1)(b)]

    Observation. Some emergency preparedness supplies have expired. Additional supplies are recommended - for example: can opener, diapers/wipes, disposable plates/cutlery (based on the food present). As discussed, an emergency preparedness template will be forwarded to the Owner/Manager. This document includes standardized emergency preparedness procedures. Should the Owner/Manager decide to incorporate it into their own policies/procedures. please provide a copy of the document once revised to reflect this child care facility's processes.

    The facility, the furniture, equipment, fixtures and supplies are of sturdy and safe construction.  They are easy to clean, and are clean and in good repair and free from hazards. [CCLR Sec. 13(2) and Sec. 15(1)(a)]

    Observation. Licensing observed the following items: *Several shelving units in the playroom were not anchored to the wall, posing a tipping hazard. *Changing mats are worn out and have holes, posing health concerns as they cannot be properly cleaned and disinfected. *Single-use towels are being used for the entire day and changed only after the end of each day. This poses a hygienic concern, as single-use towels should be replaced after each hand wash.

    Observation. Licensing observed insufficient emergency supplies for both the children and the staff.

    There is current log of minor incidents, illnesses and unexpected events, that did not require medical attention and were not reportable incidents described in Schedule H. [CCLR Sec. 56 (1)(f)]

    Observation. Licensing observed that no minor incident log entries had been documented. The staff informed Licensing that any minor incidents were communicated to parents through the program’s mobile application. A conversation was held with the staff regarding best practices, emphasizing the importance of documenting all minor incidents, illnesses, and unexpected events in a bound logbook, in case the data cannot be retrieved from the mobile app.

    All records referred to in CCLR sections 56 to 58 are kept in a single place at the facility. [CCLR Sec. 59(a)]

    Observation. Licensing was unable to obtain any records pertaining to Sections 56 to 58 during today’s visit.
