Observation. Licensing observed the outdoor does not meet the needs of children as per Schedule G. There were no play equipment observed at today's inspection. The licensee mentioned that due to recent weather conditions, the sand table has been moved away, and children have primarily been running or playing with balls. The current outdoor activities do not sufficiently stimulate the development of small muscle skills or foster creative pursuits such as art, music, movement, and imaginative play as per Schedule G.

Observation. Shared bottles of soap water and bleach are being used between activity room and washroom, which can pose a cross contamination risk.

Observation. Licensing observed the following: - Bleach solution was placed on a low cabinet in the activity area in reach of children. Manager relocated the bottles immediately, this item was corrected during inspection. - Child lock was not engaged in the washroom, with cleaning chemicals inside the cabinet accessible to children. Manager engaged the lock, this item was corrected during inspection. - Diaper rash cream, Polysporin, and other ointments were observed next to the diaper changing mat, accessible to children. Diaper rash cream also observed to be expired. These items were relocated immediately, this item was corrected during inspection. - Space heaters were on the floor of the nap room, and in the activity area. Both space heaters were hot to touch, and had loose cords accessible to children.

Observation. *A wooden dramatic play kitchen inside the Livingroom play area was not secured to the wall creating a possible tipping hazard. *A heavy ornamental garden fox was observed to be on a ledge creating a possible tipping hazard. *The clips on the bi-fold doors by the washroom do not hold.

Observation. *A toddler was observed walking around and eating a rice cracker for much of today's visit. A discussion was held with the licensee about healthy eating habits and how this practice could pose a risk of the child choking.

Observation. *The granite fireplace hearth has raised corners which could potentially cause head injury.

Observation. *The cord from a heater in the nap room was observed to be loose and accessible to children. This poses a risk of entanglement. *A blind cord in the nap room was observed to be loose and accessible from one of the cribs. This poses a risk of entanglement. *2 mirrored sliding closets with child locks installed were observed to be unsecured. This is a finger pinch hazard and creates accessibility to the items stored within the closets. (Corrected during inspection) *Glass perfume bottles located on the bathroom counter were noted to be within children's reach creating risk of shattered glass if dropped on the marble counter or floor. *The diapering surface is cloth which makes it difficult to disinfect between different children's diaper changes.

Observation. *There are commercially dried food rations and water available in case of evacuation/emergency, however the dried food may not be appropriate or easy for toddlers to eat and there are no considerations for diapering. A discussion was held with the licensee in regards to obtaining more safety equipment, comfort kits from family and food that toddlers can easily eat.
