    A healthy and safe environment is provided at all times [CCLR Sec. 13(1)].

    Observation. Licensing observed a stroller was stored inside the nap space. A conversation with the Licensee that strollers must be stored away from children’s designated sleeping areas. This is particularly important to prevent dirt and germs from the stroller wheels from entering the napping area, where children sleep on the floor or rug.

    The facility, the furniture, equipment, fixtures and supplies are of sturdy and safe construction.  They are easy to clean, and are clean and in good repair and free from hazards. [CCLR Sec. 13(2) and Sec. 15(1)(a)]

    Observation. Licensing observed the changing mat observed is ripped and has been temporarily repaired using duct tape. This mat is no longer in good condition and is no longer to be easy to clean effectively.

    Observation. Licensing observed the carpet in the sleeping area appeared dusty, with a pile of dust collected near the entryway. It is essential that this area remains clean and sanitized consistently, particularly as children rest directly on the floor in this space.

    Observation. Licensing observed some outdoor play materials showed signs of wear and tear. Some push cars and bikes have green algae growth and require a thorough scrubbing.

    Observation. The Licensee has four children in care. One child uses a crib, two children use mats and one child sleeps on a comforter on the floor. The Licensee stated that one of the sleeping mats ripped and was discarded and they now use the comforter on the floor instead.

    Prior to employing staff the manager has met with each person and has obtained the appropriate documentation. [CCLR Sec. 19(1)]

    Observation. The Licensee hired a temporary staff member to help them out for a few weeks. No documentation was on file for the staff. A discussion was held with the Licensee regarding documentation that must collected prior to employment (see attached document). The Licensee stated the staff would no longer be there as of March 6, 2023.
