• PHYSICAL, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHING / EnvironmentNon-critical

  A healthy and safe environment is provided at all times [CCLR Sec. 13(1)].

  Observation. Bleach / water spray bottle is available for disinfecting surfaces. Soap / water spray bottles is available for cleaning surfaces. Fridge temperature = 3'C - good! Licensing observed an essential oil diffuser in the bedroom. The Licensee informed Licensing that the diffuser was used prior to nap time and that the diffuser was not used when children were present/sleeping. Licensing observed child safety locks were not engaged on bi-fold closet doors located in the entry way and the bedroom. The Licensee attempted to engage the locks but had difficulty. Licensing recommends replacing the child secure locks on the bi-fold closet doors. Licensing observed individual hooks for hand drying towels available to the children. The Licensee stated that the cloth towels were single use towels only. Licensing observed a cord connected to a light fixture in the bedroom hanging loose against a wall. This poses a risk of entanglement. Licensing observed a liquid soap container as well as bar soap in the bathroom. The Licensee informed Licensing that the children used the bar soap during hand washing. The use of liquid soap is preferable to the use of bar soap in order to deter the spread of germs between children.

  A record for each child containing the name and telephone number of a parent, medical practitioner and emergency contact is not kept. [CCLR Sec. 57(2)(d)]; A record for each child containing the name, sex, date of birth, medical insurance plan number and immunization status is not kept. [CCLR Sec. 57(2)(a)]

  Observation. Licensing observed one child missing information for a medical practitioner. The Licensee stated that the family does not have a family doctor. Licensing advised that obtaining information of the medical clinic the family attends is acceptable. Licensing observed missing emergency contact information for one child. The second page of a child's registration document was not complete. Registration documentation for two children who were in the Licensee's care on a drop-in basis was not obtained prior to receiving care.
