  Observation. Licensing measured the heated water temperature at the children’s handwashing sinks. One reading at the upstairs right-hand sink was over 49°C.

  Observation. Licensing observed that the child's anaphylaxis medication was kept in the first aid kit, which was stored on the ground floor while the child remained upstairs. Staff brought it back upstairs during a routine inspection.

  A healthy and safe environment is provided at all times [CCLR Sec. 13(1)].

  Observation. Licensing observed the following: 1. Multiple nails were found exposed to children inside the wooden playhouse. This poses a potential hazard and could cause injury to the children. 2. The outdoor play area had an uneven ground surface, this poses tripping and slipping hazards. 3. The sandbox was observed uncovered overnight. The licensee confirmed they would cover the sandbox at the end of each day. 4. Heavy items were unsecured and stored on open shelves above the children's washroom. This poses a risk of injury if the items were to fall. Licensee has removed during the inspection.

  The licensee keeps current records of each employee as required under Sec. 19(1). [CCLR Sec.56(b)]

  Observation. Licensing observed one educator present working with children. However, the Licensee was unable to provide the staff file at the time of inspection.

  At all times children have immediate access to an employee who holds a valid first aid and CPR certificate, is knowledgeable respecting each child's medical condition, if any, and is capable of communicating with emergency personnel. [CCLR Sec. 23(1)]

  Observation. Licensing observed one staff First Aid Certification has expired on January 2023.

  Prior to employing staff the manager has met with each person and has obtained the appropriate documentation. [CCLR Sec. 19(1)]

  Observation. One staff certification has expired October 2022. Licensee stated the renewal is in process by ECE Registry.
