  The entire outdoor play area is enclosed and constructed in a manner that is suitable for the age and development of children, and ensures that children are free of harm. [CCLR Sec. 16(3)(a)(b)]

  Observation. Licensing observed the following in the outdoor play space: 1) A broken table and badminton rackets. 2) Large muddy slippery areas in front of the shed and by the entrance to the field. The manager reported a child almost slipped and fell by the entrance to the field. They now have to go around this area using a different route. 3) Wood surfaces such as decking, stairs, railings etc. have green slippery algae growth and are in need of power washing. 4) Anti slip strips on some of the stairs are wearing thin and reaching the end of their lifespan.

  Observation. Licensing observed the following: A log and wicker couch that had lots of wear and tear and are at the end of their life span. The log posed a risk of injury due to the splintered nature and the couch was overgrown with algae. A deck that was slippery in need of either power washing or anti slip covering.

  The facility, the furniture, equipment, fixtures and supplies are of sturdy and safe construction.  They are easy to clean, and are clean and in good repair and free from hazards. [CCLR Sec. 13(2) and Sec. 15(1)(a)]

  Observation. Licensing observed the following: 1) Two wooden gates showed signs of wear and tear. Wood veneer started to come off around the edges. 2) One bathroom sink had a rusty area around the edge where the enamel had worn off. 3) Windowsills had cobwebs and extensive black mold build up. 4) A wood and vinyl bench at the entry had back mold and dirt build up under the seat. A discussion was held to potentially remove the bench. Licensing recommends the following: 5) Clean out the in floor radiators regularly as they tend to collect dust and monitor for small items getting stuck inside (e.g melty beads, Lego pieces). 6) Store toilet cleaning brushes out of reach of children (e.g. in cupboard rather than on the floor beside the toilet)
